Lyle Lanley

Your mayor is one step closer to being arrested.

October 8, 2013 @ 9:33 AM

Banger

What Lyle's referring to is Project Brazen 2:

Alexander “Sandro” Lisi’s attempt last March to swap drugs for a stolen cellular phone believed to belong to Mayor Rob Ford helped kick-start a top secret police investigation, a Star investigation reveals.

The probe, which a police document states is called Project Brazen 2, is a spinoff of Project Traveller , the guns and gangs investigation that culminated in massive arrests on June 13. Brazen 2 is an investigation of “drug trafficking,” a police document states. Two arrests were made in this investigation last week: Lisi and the owner of an Etobicoke dry-cleaning shop .

Hahahahahahaha, this is so funny.
The Mayor one step closer to being arrested.
A cellular phone "believed to belong to the mayor" "top secret police investigation"
" a Star investigation reveals".
Come on people the Star has no credability in this story.
Why don't you lefties focus your attention on the real story and that is the scum that is the Wynne Liberals. Billions of $ wasted and you guys can't wait to get Rob Ford.

October 8, 2013 @ 10:09 AM

Ben Vidal

@ Speyside: Yes the liberals should be held to task for the gas plant cancellations. I'm also awaiting the report on the billions that have been lost on the Federal Conservatives side for the F35 fiasco. Accounts so far will have the amount wasted/lost make our provincial liberals look like they lost pocket change. So lets keep everything in perspective.

I'd also get ready to eat some crow if I were you Speyside. The noose is tightening on Rob Ford, it's only a matter of time. My money is on Lisi squealing like a stock pig in order to get a plea deal.

October 8, 2013 @ 10:20 AM

Ben Vidal

@ Sam: You are lying it's only the star and the globe that run such stories. They are left wing rags. They have no credibility.

The national post and the sun are the only trust worthy news sources.

October 8, 2013 @ 10:34 AM

Lorne

@Sam you can't trust anything the Sun says. They are and always have been an extremely unabashed left-wing Liberal propaganda machine that was created solely to destroy the Ford Nation.

So the Leafs started the season 3-0... will they be able to win with Toronto Mike AWOL?

October 8, 2013 @ 10:55 AM

Rob Ford isn't worth discussing here anymore. He's got zero integrity.

Let's talk about great Toronto restaurants. What are some hidden gems in this city? Share your secret (or not so secret) hotspots for a good meal!

October 8, 2013 @ 11:00 AM

Mississauga Phil

@ Al Reda - I think they'll be fine. The Leafs traditionally tailspin when Mike writes a post about how well they're doing. So as long as he's in Amsterdam, and not here writing said post, we should be fine!

The Team Canada jerseys for the Olympics are just plain AWFUL !
Each time I look at them I get the feeling I am walking in to a Petro Canada gas station to pay for my gas !

The white one look like a Petro Canada jersey.

Could someone please explain why the Ford supporters can’t even acknowledge that things aren’t looking good for him? If the Star was making everything up, would all the other media run with the stories too? While there is nothing pointing directly at the mayor, something is obviously up. That’s just undeniable.
And pointing fingers at other levels of government for perceived wrong doings doesn’t mean Ford shouldn’t be looked at too.

October 8, 2013 @ 11:53 AM

Speysidephil

@Ben

I have no problem eating a little crow, as long as you guys eat a little crow pie when Ford is re-elected in 2014.

October 8, 2013 @ 11:54 AM

Ben Vidal

@McNulty: I don't know ask Speyside or Argie. It wouldn't matter if he was out there doing other nefarious things. They would all make an excuse for him and even if proof is provided, they'd say it isn't the right proof. Or they need to see even more to believe it.

For a known liar they seem to be willing to believe everything that comes out of his mouth. I wish in my workplace I could make up sales $ and have everyone believe it like Ford does. I saved the company 1 billion dollars, why because I said so, you want proof? I just gave you proof I used the phrase 1 billion dollars that's all the proof I need. I don't throw numbers under a bus. I've never even seen them drink.

Interac is having a bad week! I haven't been able to send an email money transfer in days. This kind of shut-down is unprecedented in the financial world. Lots of people who depend on the service are complaining that they can't pay their bills/rent. I'm surprised it isn't a bigger story.

October 8, 2013 @ 1:20 PM

McNulty

You're right, Ben. There has been proof that he is a liar but that isn't good enough. There is proof his numbers are phony but it is all the Star's fault.
The police are investigating his friends. That has been proven but he's still a victim of the lefties.

Sure, he could be re-elected in 2014. Marion Barry was re-elected. It didn't change the facts. He's an embarassment.

Yes, he privatized half of the garbage which was a good idea. He got rid of the stupid extra car licensing fee. That was another good thing he championed. He still needs to get rid of the second land transfer tax but even he knows he needs the revenue stream.

But he's a disaster on the PR level. He was a great loudmouther counsellor. Not a good Mayor.

October 8, 2013 @ 1:27 PM

Argie

"Could someone please explain why the Ford supporters can’t even acknowledge that things aren’t looking good for him?"

Why should we even bother? He's guilty in your eyes.

Also, even if he is in fact guilty of something, he's not going anywhere and he's going to win in 2014.

4 MORE YEARS!!! Deal with that.

October 8, 2013 @ 1:28 PM

Ryan G

Went to St. Lawrence market's Rainbow cinemas the other day to see the 3pm screening of Gravity.

At exactly 3, the film started immediately without a pre show or trailers, which normally would be great - but in this instance, they started the film with not only the house lights up, but the auditorium muzak playing over top of the film's audio. This continued this way for about 3 minutes.

They did start it again, but then there was fresh hell to contend with.

About 20 minutes into the film a clearly ignorant family of 5 decided to arrive. We're talking a darkened theatre (especially since the film's set in the black of space)and about 95% full. As luck would have it, these choice citizens selected the row directly in front of me. They all filed in, disrupting not just me, but the entire audience, effectively taking us all out of the film - exactly the opposite of the desired theatrical experience.

So forget about seeing or hearing what's on screen. I get about 2 minutes of 7 noisy-ass silhouettes (extra 2 were the 2 people who were already in the row), shuffling along, whispering and trying to settle down.

But wait, there's more!

It seems this inconsiderate bunch has miscalculated how many seats were available in the row, so after a few of them sit down, taking off coats, etc, they then realize they need to all get up again and leave the row. So, what I got to enjoy as they filed in, I got an encore presentation as they filed out.

And don't get me started on the guy eating what smelled like a trout a couple of rows behind me.

It is these experiences that may kill the movie exhibition industry. Get your shit together, or pack it in.

October 8, 2013 @ 1:32 PM

Argie

@McNulty
I see your Barry comparison but how about McGuinty? Three times this joker was elected (twice by a huge majority). I could never figure out that one.

October 8, 2013 @ 1:43 PM

McNulty

@ Argie

"Could someone please explain why the Ford supporters can’t even acknowledge that things aren’t looking good for him?"

Why should we even bother? He's guilty in your eyes."

And that's exactly what I'd expect. Don't actually answer the question just spin it.

McGuinty was re-elected because the alternative was terrible. It's why Ford won. He had Smitherman as an opponent. George is a jerk with a horrible record.

It frightens me that Ford's disaster could lead to a Olivia Chow victory. Hell, my vote would go to Ford with that choice.

But all of that doesn't change that Ford is mostly ineffectual, a liar and a bad representitive for Toronto.

October 8, 2013 @ 1:53 PM

Argie

@McNulty
I'm sorry to ruin your fun by agreeing with you, but I mostly do.

I gave up complaining about McGuinty several years back when I finally came to the realization the libs would continue to win regardless of how bad the Premier was. That's essentially my point - I'm not "spinning" anything.

October 8, 2013 @ 2:30 PM

McNulty

You're right. That's not fun.

Call me gay or something. That's more fun.

October 8, 2013 @ 2:38 PM

@McNulty
Can't do it, man. Besides, you stated you would vote for Ford over Chow. That earned my love.

October 8, 2013 @ 2:50 PM

Nigel Trousershrapnel

@ Ben Vidal,
You stated that, "They would all make an excuse for him and even if proof is provided."

Are you admitting that no proof has been provided to this point?

October 8, 2013 @ 2:54 PM

McNulty

@ Nigel

There is proof. Doug Ford himself says he confirmed it was police doing survellience on him. He recanted that statement and blamed the media (which reported what he said) but that's proof.
Ford's friend was arrested. That's proof.
The Sun has confirmed his friend was trying to find Ford's phone with marijuana. That's not the Star. I think that's proof too.

@ Argie

While Chow may be (and I am hesitant to say even that) a better Ambassador for the city, her policies would ruin it. I am sure there would be a new tax on paying taxes. Plus a service fee. Then there would be bike lanes on Yonge instead of room for cars.

October 8, 2013 @ 3:08 PM

Nigel Trousershrapnel

@ McNulty,
Proof of what though?
That he's bad at picking friends?
That his brother lied?

Throw me a bone here Mc. What is FORD guilty of?
Guilt by association is so 16th century!

I can't keep you posted Mike. I'm having a cold beer in a hotel room in Memphis. The wife and I decided to take aroad trip this week, and here we are. Funny - Neither of us are Elvis fans, but to quote Paul Simon,

There’s some part of me wants to see Graceland."

October 8, 2013 @ 4:17 PM

@speyside: Sorry no actual dollar figures attached to that. You can't take away a car licensing fee and and then claim to save the city money. Sorry the math doesn't work there.

City - cash flow = less money in the coffers.

Enough already about Rob Ford. He's an a-hole and only affects Toronto people. (You have my sympathy.) This guy was appointed..............can he not be disappointed?? (I know I am.)

The thing with Ford nation is that they literally have no standards. The Ford fans here keep demanding proof. Tell me an accusation that would make you turn on him, because you keep saying you need "proof" of something, but then when something is proven, the Ford cultist change their tune to "That's wasn't important to begin with". I can give two examples from the top of my head

Ex1.STORY: Accusations and pictures of drunken Ford in public
FORD NATION: That's a lie from people with an agenda, still photo can be deceiving. Rob doesn't even drink says his own brother, we believe his brother.
CONFIRMATION OF STORY: Video of Ford slurring his words, looking drunk as a skunk at the Danforth festival
FORD CULT REPLY: He's a regular guy, he enjoys a few pops. Who hasn't had a drink and stumbled drunk while representing the city.

Ex2 STORY: Photo of Ford hugging it out with drug dealing gangsters. Accused of hanging around drug dealers
FORD NATION: That's means nothing, Ford takes photos with a lot of people. It must be random.
CONFIRMATION OF STORY: House in photos is that of an old Ford friend, another Ford friends arrested in a drug raid who Ford called "a great guy" and was Fords personal driver
FORD NATION TURNABOUT REPLY: As we seen here, it's now it turned from "photo is random people" to now it's just "bad luck in picking friends"

My gosh, the no standard continues today. Today the city will be burden with a billion dollar operating cost subway. That we will be paying off for 30 years because Ford played into peoples insecurities and pushed technology fetish on them. He literally lied to peoples faces about what an LRT was. We will be paying for a ghost train while he is long moved back to Chicago (or wherever the hell he ends up) Even if it this subway is successful (which it won't) EVEN the Sun is wondering "Where the F is these people going to end up when they travel to an already jam packed downtown subway core. Even The Sun see's fault in this.

@Speyside Phil

Well Nigel, he's guilty of associating with a bunch of people who have been arrested for serious drug possession (with intent to traffick). Oh and wasn't one of them shot dead?

So Nigel & Phil, it's unfair right? Do you feel the same when the cops target a bunch of black dudes lampin' on the block? Or is that just "good policing"? When leaders of the black community say "we are being profiled, we are being targeted" why I bet you just shrug it off and think "just a bunch of nigg3rs anyway".

Well guess what suburban boys. Now Ford & his little circle jerk clusterfuck of followers knows how it feels when you are someone that "fits the profile". Let's hope we hear from you the next time someone that fits the profile claims "I'm being profiled for what I look like and who I associate with".

October 8, 2013 @ 10:30 PM

Nigel Trousershrapnel

@ EYE R VEE
Interesting take.
So how much time does one get for the crime of "association"?
Again just because you want him to be guilty of something, doesn't mean he is
I won't ask for proof again. Obviously it's not required when discussing Mr. Ford.

E Health, Ornge and Gas Plants (to name only 3). BILLIONS wasted and everyone wants to talk about Ford. Unbelievable.

October 9, 2013 @ 9:08 AM

Nigel Trousershrapnel

@Gary,
Only because there is a fixation here. The anti-Ford crusaders can't get past the fact that Ford won the mayoral race. Similar to the Republican hate for Obama, but with a more vicious, a more personal spin.
Their righteous indignation is the excuse they use to attack him, but they fail to see how their comments emulate the behaviour of those they condemn.
I have no dog in this race, but I can't look away.

October 9, 2013 @ 9:29 AM

Mississauga Phil

@ Nigel - You had a very apt comparison going there with he anti Ford vs. anti Obama....until you said "but with a more vicious..."

The GOP are willing to turn their country into a dystopia rather than have Obama in charge. The country is about to implode on itself because the GOP won't allow Obamacare to go forward.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Ford crowd just want the Mayor to act like a Mayor and not a mix of schoolyard bully and drunken Frat Boy.

October 9, 2013 @ 9:35 AM

Irv

@Nigel

Right. So let me ask you a question and you answer it bro. If Justin Trudeau was seen on a Harley with a "Support 81" patch on his leather vest, what would you think? If you are unaware, "Support 81" is the logo for those who aren't full patch Hells Angels but those that support them. What do you think think the right wing media would say? The anti Trudeau camp would go fucking apeshit and claim Trudeau was not fit to lead this country. Questions would be immediately raised about his integrity.

Would that make Trudeau a criminal? Or would it make him a guy who simply liked riding his Hog & socializing with a group of dudes who like to ride? The answer is obvious. He'd immediately be smeared and the Sun & Post would send in reporters to dig & find every single connection they could to smear him.

And I can tell you one thing. You motherfuckers would say jack fucking shit about it. Because you're a bunch of partisan robots that simply can't think for yourself.

I'm a big burly rough looking guy and I own a Harley Davidson Softail Heritage Classic. When I ride my bike I seem to be stopped routinely by police (especially in Surrey). When I drive around in my wee little car, I almost never get stopped. Coincidence? Or profiling? Same for Rob Ford. If he's not smart enough to figure out he shouldn't associate publicly with drug dealers then he's not smart enough to be in government.

PS. I could give a fuck if he uses drugs.

October 9, 2013 @ 9:40 AM

Nigel Trousershrapnel

@Miss Phil,
Schoolyard bully and drunken Frat Boy?
Not personal or vicious at all!

Now now Argie, I've already got my profile setup in Leather Man Vancouver brother. Thanks for friending me too.

You guys don't seem to get it do you. Look, I could give a fuck if Rob Ford smokes crack. In fact, I could give a fuck if Rob Ford snorts a line of coke off a high end hookers ass and reviews her on the Toronto Escort Review Board. As long as it's on his own time & with his own money that's fine.

What makes Ford an asshole is it was HIM shooting off his mouth about the evils of drug use & abuse. It was him who was against safe injection sites, blah blah blah because yo, it encouraged drug use (which is bullshit). Yet it's OK for the mayor to hang out with a bunch of gangbangers & drug dealers?

C'mon Argie, get real, you know the optics. How many of your financial buddies do a little blow off the ass of their favourite hooker on their Sea Ray docked at Ontario Place? They're just not stupid enough to make it public. In short, they have the girl show up and change into her clear heels after she gets in the boat. They don't go hang out at the water park with her.

He's a classic politician and that's the problem. He's a bullshitter and liar. It's all too common in politics where these fuckheads say one thing than do another. It's like Republicans preaching family values only to meet up with "Candy" later that evening in the hotel. Talk the talk and walk the walk or GTFO. And Ford needs to GTFO.

October 9, 2013 @ 12:23 PM

Nigel Trousershrapnel

$1.1 Billion on canceled gas plants could build enough solar to power 50,000 homes for free for 20+ years. That's approximately 1% of all homes in Ontario.

Yea...awesome

October 9, 2013 @ 2:29 PM

4x4 Time

@Ryan P - Indeed. At what point in time or what particular political action will it take when we reach the tipping point as a society and fight back against the thieving bastards who run our various levels of government? And really, short of voting in another crew of lying thieves what can we do?
I remember when Ontario was a “have” province. Now, we have no political leadership, no accountability, no moral sense, no money, and a massive debt that likely will never be repaid.

October 9, 2013 @ 3:44 PM

Tron

Let me try doing Ford nation lingo to "defend" the gas plants. There no "proof" it cost a billion dollars. If nobody went to jail, nobody did anything wrong. Every newspaper got together and conspire and made this up. The folks is sauga & oakville didn't want gasplants, just listening to taxpayers. Won the election, so you can't criticize anything we do until the next election. Auditor-General has an agenda against our side. Will reply with every media question concerning gas plants with "anything else?"

Do you agree with any of the above or do you think it's BS. It's not a left/right thing, but logic like this is mostly complete insanity. But it's a regular defense from his supporters and Ford himself. So are people saying the only way somebody should resign from office is if they are thrown in jail? Because those are some pretty damn low standards you have there.

If there's a slogan for Ford nation excuses for Ford it would be "Convincing yourself the abnormal is normal" Ford fans offended in calling him a "Frat boy" but guess what, during Nuit blanche (or any street festival) i see two types of street drunks. The homeless/drug addicted/alcoholic & 20 year old a-hole frat boys going out on the town on their parents dime getting liquored up at any inappropriate time. Everybody rolls their eyes towards these guys (doesn't matter what your politics are) but when Ford does it, Ford nation gets offended for calling a spade a spade, and pretends "nothing to see here"

Another day, another Rob Ford hangs out with another creep story Rob Ford recruited man with history of violent crime to coach football Hey who hasn't endorsed a friend who has a criminal past, who felt the need to change his name so he can be around "at risk" youth. Damn just another "coincidence". Why are so many of Ford's friends guys with criminal background who live with their elderly parents. Another member of Ford nation

Clearly you have a thing for Ford. All of your comments are ramblings about how guilty Ford is.

Hey, I'm all for free speech but can you throw in a little variety into it? What are your thoughts on the Leafs, Raptors, 88.1 etc???

October 9, 2013 @ 4:10 PM

Irv

@4x4

What could be done? Well to faciliate political change, first we need everyone off the partisan bandwagon. You know, the types who blindly support their political party ignoring their failures. If you support any mainstream political party, you are a guillable fucking idiot.

Then what needs to happen is politicians need to be treated like they are regular citizens. They should be required to take the bus to work. They should receive the same shitty fucking pension the rest of us get. And, they need to get the same treatment regular people get when they commit crimes. For example, if I was to steal 65 grand, my house would get raided, I'd get tossed face down on the ground and I'd be sent to prison. I didn't see that happen to Duffy or Wallin. And if they lie, they should be fired. If the average citizens lies at work, they get fired. A politician has immunity. And, we need a way to remove liars and cheats IMMEDIATELY. None of this "wait four years".

And finally we need a population that has a handle on reality. So when society whines about shitty health care they need to expect the answer to be "well it would cost less if you weren't all a bunch of fucking fat pigs too lazy to cook real food". And in the case of the cancelled gas plant, people need to blame more just the government. They need to blame the voters who lobbied the government to cancel it. The rest of Ontario needs to get in their cars and show up in Oakville and ask the residents PERSONALLY...who the fuck they think they are to do this. Don't like me up in your grill? Well too fucking bad because your whiny NIMBY shit cost me $$. The residents of Oakville can answer to the REST of Ontario about the wasted money. All you motherfuckers harp about welfare because yo, why should we give a single Mom enough to buy her kids food. But hey, we'll let the shit choices made by the residents of Oakville slide on through.

People should not fear the Government. The government should fear the people. It doesn't.

@Tron,
Interesting analogy. Except that all parties agree on the cost of the gas plant fiasco. Auditor presented it. Libs, Cons and NDP accepted it as fact. Media reported it.

The Ford situation is a bit different whereas you think he is the anti-christ, and all I've asked for is proof, evidence and fact.
All I get is the same rhetoric over and over again. As I stated in a previous post, your so called righteous indignation is the excuse you use to attack him, but you fail to see how your comments emulate the behaviour of those you condemn.
Notice how I expressed an opinion without name calling. Give it a try.

It's strange how critisisms of Ford and Ontario liberals degenerate into 'us v them' narritive.

Look, I wasn't around at the time of this gas plant money pit but it sounds like a complete fuckup with poor project planning and a LOT of money wasted.

But the (self) righteously indignant on this topic here should realise that they were going to be taxed at the same rate regardless of the cost involved. The nett change to everyone's bottom line here is a big fat zero. If the lost money was around, it'd be sitting in an account somewhere, not returned to taxpayers.

I don't understand why people of all political stripes can't acknowledge that Ford is a fucking embarrassment to the city. And despite what conservatives think of mostly liberal media, there's no way they'd fabricate a video of the mayor smoking crack. (The first rule of writing fiction is it has to be believable). Also they're journalists. You think one of them wouldn't expose the conspiracy??!? It'd be a career-building winning move with headlines worldwide!!

These are not the standards of office that we deserve. I hope he's out of office ASAP.

Then again, some conservatives believe facts have a liberal bias so make of that what you will.

Cost of gas plants equivalent to less than $80 per Ontarian or

Less than one beer/month for a year (at pub prices)

One return TTC journey/month for a year

About 30mins of counselling for those that need help getting past it!

Just when I'm about to give up on Ford and say "yeah, lets throw the pig out of office" I read the posts from Irv and Icarus filled with such hate I think: hell no, why would I want Ford to leave? Let him stay in power just so I can be entertained by these two disturbed individuals.

You still didn't get an answer because the moron Ford haters don't have one.
They just hate Ford, end of story.
And by the way who says he is an embarrassment to the city? The Star, the Sun??
He seemed to get along well in Austin.
If anything he has put Toronto on the Map, as a cost cutting take no prisoner Mayor. People love that.
Get over it haters.

@Jason: What a cluster effer Rogers has going on right now. No Cell service, heard internet is down. Isn't their advertising the most reliable network in Canada?
On Rob Ford: How did Sandro Lisi know where to go to retrieve Rob's phone? I've lost cell phones before, and the net would have to be spread far and wide as it could have fallen out in a 50 mile radius from where I had been. He knew he dropped it at a crack house, how else could they focus their search for it.
Ford thought Blair and the police force were on his side for the support he has provided in the past. He better rethink his friends list.

Raised $200 thousand to give to a drug dealer for the crack video.
Still waiting.....

I love it when the media creates a scenario that allows people to connect the dots based on their particular bias. Just enough truth in the story to make it plausible and then a bit of speculation (allegedly FORD's phone) to point the sheep in the right direction.

Its not about the cost per Ontarian. Its about the fact that all that money is going NOWHERE and is essentially useless.

You compare the costs to a beer, a ttc ride etc. At least the government would be doing something for Ontarian's if that $80 per person was going towards that free beer or TTC ride. The fact is that it is basically being donated to the companies who were developing the 2 plants.

Again, 50,000 homes. Free electricity for 20+ years. How many community housing projects or less fortunate people who could benefit from that? Its about a gross misuse of yours and my money. Its beyond pathetic and its sad to see anyone in Ontario be OK with that. It's the icing on the cake made of eHealth scandals, teacher strikes, a once have province which is now a have not and 100's of broker campaign promises.

On to a topic that doesn't have Speysidephil spewing rhetoric full of lies about Rob Ford putting Toronto onto the map.

Bottom Feder mentioned great TO restaurants. Two that I've visited lately worth mentioning. The first is Queen Margherita Pizza. I'm not terribly adventurous when it comes to pizza. I'm just as happy with Pepperoni and cheese as I am with anything else. Queen Margherita claims to use only the finest ingredients, importing their dough and tomatoes for the sauce from Italy.

I have to say the Pizza was really tasty. Not a big thick crust or so much dough you feel like you've eaten a loaf of bread afterwards. Nice amount of un-processed cheese. I can't remember the name of the pizza I had, but it had two different meats on it. Both of the meats had distinct flavors and added to the overall taste.

My two complaints are the limited menu and the quality of the wine. Firstly addressing menu size, I'm not asking for 100 different types of pizza's, but the menu just seemed not finished. Neither myself or my girlfriend enjoyed our wines and normally it takes a really shitty wine for me not to enjoy a glass.

Would I recommend it as a restaurant to try? Yes. Would I go there again? In a couple of years after I've done many other restaurants in the TO area.

Next was Gio Rana's also in the east end/leslieville. This place is a hidden gem in my mind.

Decor inside isn't exactly the most magnificent for a restaurant, but that shouldn't make you think twice. Everything myself and my girlfriend had was great. Try the giant meatball as a starter. Any of their pasta dishes are amazing.

Most importantly the staff was friendly. Service was prompt. Wine was good and so was the food

My friends! I have a giveaway on my site! Pacific Rim Blu-ray. Seeing as you guys were the winners of my last two contests, your chances are pretty good of winning lol. Unless of course Lorne messes with my Random.org number generator ;) http://bit.ly/1acHwOR

And since I'm here and I see we are talking about food, right now I am really into two awesome if very different places. Both are casual, offer take-out and inexpensive. Pie Commission (delicious meat pies) http://bit.ly/14byaDY and Cho Dong Soon Tofu (delicious homemade tofu) http://bit.ly/1buRQs5

Ben I also like Queen Margherita Pizza. The owners have another pizza place in the west end called FBI Pizza that is also really authentic. Mike it is in our hood: http://bit.ly/Iftwu5

Nothing beats Il Paesano though, will always be my fave delivery pizza.

@Nigel: 200k was donated to drug prevention/rehabilitation programs in the GTA long ago. No idea what you're waiting for.

@Ryan There's never going to be 100% efficiency in the running of any municipality/province or country. The larger the economy the more waste there will be. You're tilting at windmills if you think it could ever be different. And again, that money wouldn't have gone to housing or any other noble cause. Those are political decisions not financial ones.

So, yes, a waste of a large amount of money, but no to crying and getting upset about it. Like I said, less than $80 of your money was wasted.

@Argie You support Ford and you think he's a pig. Can someone go around to Argies place and see if it had a stroke?

October 10, 2013 @ 12:16 PM

Nigel Trousershrapnel

@Icarus
How soon they forget. Was the 200k originally slated for drug prevention/rehabilitation programs? Take your time I know the answer, but I want to be sure you do as well.
I am waiting for the infamous, video. I know you're pissed that it didn't surface, but probably not as pissed as those gullible morons, those lovable losers who thought that their donations could discredit Ford.
Mind you I guess Ford is indirectly responsible for the 200k going to the right place. Ironic, no?
That must keep you up at night?

Speaking of restaurants, anyone in Barrie know if Mondo's is still around? It's on Dunlop right next to Crossover's.
Haven't been there in a few years but great food and the prices are reasonable too. Their veal on a bun is the best.

Actually now that I think of it I'm pretty sure it's called The Original Mondos. There's only the one on Dunlop anyway.

@Nigel, I will give you something, you at least read my analogy, so for that, I appreciate that you would at least open your mind. You said "all parties including Libs accepted it" and I agree. But would your feelings be different if Libs and McGuinty covered their ears and said "Lalalala not listening, it's a conspiracy". It started with multiple media reports, that connected some dots that they switched the gas plants. Exactly what's going on with the Ford story, the difference is that McGuinty & his supports lived in reality where he has to "own" what he did. While Ford supporters want to live in the dark and keep saying "nothing to see here"

You said later on in a response to Rick, "the media" like it's some single entity colluding for a single purpose just to "get at Ford" It's understandable not to like a columnist, but to distrust "the media" as a whole, especially respect journalist in the two biggest news departments in the nation (star & globe) and put your trust in compulsive liars like the Ford, is in a word insane. It's like purposely wanting to live in a dictatorship, to be ignorant by choosing. I don't think anybody insults Ford supporters intelligence more than the Ford's themselves. Who feel they can call everything a conspiracy no matter how strong the story is & think that's somehow good enough.

I think some suburb voted Ford just for spite of Toronto, it seems like Ford biggest supporters seem to hate everything about Toronto (no wonder they don't seem not to mind to having the city name dragged through the mud) As for SidePhil saying only positive came from Ford's trip to Austin, there wasn't much Austin media on him, but the media there was they made sure to go into great detail of how much of a circus he is and how the city and it's Mayor is a joke. Austin Biz Journal

In a non-Ford political take, today council appointed a new Etobicoke councillor, the thing that caught my eye is that they used ranked ballots. They keep tabulating until somebody gets 50%. We seriously should get this in general elections. It takes away claims of "vote splitting" and you get a truer representation of what the majority of the residents want.

October 10, 2013 @ 8:40 PM

Speysidephil

I would say that the only circus that was in Austin was the gaggle of Toronto reporters, wasting their time and money asking ridiculous questions.
