Cops Have Crack Video: Our Mayor is a Liar (And possibly a Drug Mule)

The Comment From Rinse about Rob Ford's Crack UseThe staff at are busy going through the newly released court documents that show the alleged Ford crack video was the target of a police investigation that led to dozens of arrests.

There are lots of fascinating nuggets in this document, all painting the mayor as a guy with lots to hide, but commenter markosaar just asked the obvious question in the most recent Open Mike. Is Rob Ford, mayor of Toronto, a drug mule?

Jacobsen says Lisi was seen putting dry-cleaning from shop tied to drug arrest into Ford's car, white bags too #TOPoli

Police watched Ford and Lisi meet over 100 times:

"On many occasions they followed him to meetings with Ford in parks. Detectives searched the area after and found empty vodka bottles."

"After Ford and Lisi met in person, detectives noticed a pattern. Later in the day, Ford, on his drive home, stopped in at the Esso at Edenbridge Rd. and Scarlett Rd., just a few doors east of the Ford home. While Ford was in the Esso station, which houses his favourite Tim Horton’s, Lisi would drive up in his Range Rover and place a package into Ford’s Escalade, then drive off."

It's okay, Ford's just a mule.

There's so much here I need a little time to digest it and I'd like to hear what Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair says at 11:30, but it's fascinating to see a video that Rob Ford says doesn't exist spark such an investigation and it's difficult to fathom why Ford would meet so often with a drug dealer in such discreet and skeezy ways.

I've known for some time that our mayor is a liar but I didn't realize he was also a drug mule.

Update: Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair says they have the video of Rob Ford smoking crack. Holy shit.

I was being extremely sarcastic for the record.

Blair is apparently giving a "blunt" press conference in five minutes.

Yes folks, there was a video. No doubt about it. And yes, that means Ford told yet another big fat lie to Toronto taxpayers.

I can't wait to hear what the Rob Ford defenders have to say about this.

I'm thinking of my buddy Freddie P and Muzzin and Il Duce all the others who told me the Star reporters were lying (of course they weren't) and Ford was a victim of a left wing media conspiracy (of course he's not).

Sandro Lisi was just arrested for trying to recover the video, the police have a copy of the video and Mayor Ford has been exposed as the liar he is. Nobody is less suited to lead this great city.

Toronto deserves so much better...

I feel so liberated. Why would three journalists have risked their careers and lied? Of course they wouldn't, but try telling that to a Ford defender. They wear blinders.

The truth will make us free.

October 31, 2013 @ 11:46 AM

I will always maintain the the video doesn't exist. And if it does exist, it's a fake. Created by the left-wing liberal media who have conspired with the entire Toronto Police Department (and possibly the RCMP) to withold the truth and fabricate evidence.

Why do you think it took them so long to "find" the video? They've been working in secret with Hollywood producers to create this video. Thousands of man-hours. Countless, groundbreaking advances in life-like CG. All funded by these left-wing liberals to discredit the mayor, at the cost of billions of dollars. BILLIONS, just like a photo-realistic CG blockbuster would cost.

And that doesn't even count the money that's gone into doctoring or outright fabricating THOUSANDS of images of the mayor. Paying off or intimidating real, honest, tax-paying business owners so they could plant faked security footage in their place of business. Or just outright BUYING those businesses just to fuel their unjustified hate our Our Mayor.

Can't you see how deep this goes? Every single employee at every single media outlet, in on it. From editors to journalists to every single intern and secretary, all maintaining the lie.

Hundreds of police officers too. Their captains, their support staff. Undercover offices. Street officers. Across multiple divisions, across multiple jurisdictions. ALL of them, thousands of "honest" officers of the law, all conspiring against the mayor.

And the drug dealers too, they hate they mayor so much they, en masse, have joined the left-wing liberal conspiracy-- planting evidence. Lying. Appearing next to the mayor to implicate him.

Can't you see? It's hundreds if not thousands of people, all working in perfect tandem to discredit the mayor of a city. Never once breaking ranks. Never once questioning their evil plan. Never once messing or letting the game slip. Never once having a single person leak the conspiracy beyond their walls. A group that spreads across multiple groups and companies and personalities. Media. Police. Citizens. All of them. ALL OF THEM. At the cost of billions of dollars that is never missed or audited. IT IS ABSOLUTELY BELIEVABLE THIS COULD HAPPEN!

It's so plainly simple. Why can you not see it?

October 31, 2013 @ 11:51 AM

I've seen lots of Ford defenders in the media comments sections focusing instead on why the media were hounding him on the driveway.

I have no damned agenda against the mayor. I was perfectly fine waiting for him to serve out his four years and seeing what happens next election.

My problem is that we were beyond the "where there's smoke there's fire" stage, and people were still determined to defend the man as the victim of character assassination by a liberal conspiracy.

And many still will.

October 31, 2013 @ 11:53 AM

Just missed the conference but gleaned the nugget that 'Blair was very disappointed with what he saw on the video'.

Also, I presume if I had 'the' video and offered to sell it to a jounalist, can that be enough to justify an extortion charge? Surely, this would require squeezing money from its subject. No?

October 31, 2013 @ 11:55 AM

Is Ford going to be the worlds first mayor to lose his job twice in one term?

October 31, 2013 @ 11:57 AM

Where the hell is Ford? He left home a while ago... he rarely shows up before noon. He's the gravy he rallied against.

I'd suggest we need to hear from Ford but he consistently lies so what's the point?

All I'm sure of is that he won't resign b/c he's too selfish to resign.

October 31, 2013 @ 11:57 AM

So, since the mayor is "just an average guy", is he going to get the same treatment that the average TO citizen can expect? I mean, if a "normal" person was caught with even an ounce of pretty much any drug (let alone crack cocaine), they'd be:

1) Arrested instantly
2) Have every charge imaginable thrown at them
3) Be harshly prosecuted, to the point of almost being unconstitutional
4) Be threatened with "plea bargains" of some years in prison instead of many years in prison and if they don't cooperate, the crown will make their lives a living hell during the trial
5) Finally be convicted, have the stain on their record, cannot get a job or any sort of loans
6) Effectively have their lives completely trashed and ruined to the point where they legally cannot be a productive member of society every again.

I'm not saying I support or oppose drug use or possession-- but that's how the system is set up to "punish" drug users and justify the "war on drugs" budgets. So will "the average citizen" mayor face the same?

October 31, 2013 @ 11:58 AM

This has been my point all along.

Ford is the elite his followers rally against. He's the elite the rules don't apply to. He's the only born into wealth who never had to get a real job.

Ford followers want to get the elites by backing the biggest elite around. Rules don't apply to Ford. He could get away with murder.

Well no point in ruining the party. I'll let you people enjoy it.

I'm more than willing to say Ford should resign or be removed. The losers however will be the hardworking taxpayers who will have to put up with another David Miller type. Sure, he/she/it will speak well, attend every gay event possible but your city will be run into the ground financially. Enjoy the year.

October 31, 2013 @ 12:17 PM

Better to have a mayor attending gay pride, than stealing copper piping from city hall for crack money!

October 31, 2013 @ 12:24 PM

@ Charron
Exactly, where is the mayor? Not at home and not at the office. Everyone's watching him 24/7 and yet no one knows?
It would seem that his previously known 'recreational' drug usage was manageable until about the fall of 2012. Too much sideline pressure from backyard peepers, costume sworded comediennes, and $3,150 fund raising nuisance lawsuits perhaps.

His work hours make so much more sense now. He doesn't come into the office until after noon.

The report talks about him being out well after midnight with drug dealers practically every single night. Who could expect him to maintain a 9 to 5 on that schedule?

Ford would be a disappointing high school football coach. As mayor this is beyond disappointing. SMH.

I want to comment Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair for being consistently bipartisan and pragmatic. He's a true leader.

And the Star did great work here. Score one for good journalism.

Had Ford confessed and seeked help when word of the video first arose, he's be in better shape today, both politically and physically. Often the lies and coverup are worse than the initial scandal.

Freddie P should be eating a whopping crow pie. Speyside you should join him at the dinner table.

@Argie: i'll give you that for the most part you admitted there was probably truth to the allegations, but wouldn't commit to conviction until the truth came out.

My big problem is how much of a moron Ford is. After news of the crack video, anyone with even an 1/8 of a brain would stop all criminal related activities. If anything Ford kicked it up a notch. How stupid can you be? Why even be directly involved in it. Criminal masterminds hardly ever dirty their hands directly.

As for Dougie saying Rob is the most honest politician in the country, I nearly choked on my coffee when I heard that.

It's sad really because if Ford really wanted this job and wanted to improve the city he would have done so without the circus.

October 31, 2013 @ 1:33 PM

One important question here is:

Did Ford put Lisi up to the (alleged) extortion? Would Lisi have tried to (allegedly) extort on his own? Or did Lisi (allegedly) do so at the behest of Ford?

Ford would be even more screwed if the Toronto cops found evidence showing that he put Lisi up to it.

October 31, 2013 @ 1:48 PM

Here is how I think this plays out, if his legal counsel tells him the Crown have nothing on him to warrant an arrest. Apparently smoking crack on an video does not qualify.
Ford admits this week to having a substance abuse problem, apologizes to everyone, reminds everyone of his fiscal accomplishments and takes a leave for re-hab.
He comes back before the end of the year, claims he is cleaned up and starts on the attack again for re-election in 2014. People love and support everyday underdogs.

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

This was a pretty big lie... he said he never did crack, he said the video didn't exist... he said the media was conspiring against him.... these aren't your typical political spins.

Of course, he also lied about getting arrested for pot possession in Florida and he lied about being at that Leafs game when he harassed the couple.

Rob Ford consistently lies when faced with a scandal until there's indisputable evidence against him. That time is now.

October 31, 2013 @ 1:53 PM

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

@4x4 Time

I'm pretty sure there are no charges because it's difficult to prove he's smoking crack.

I agree, his best bet is to come clean and admit he has a problem, but he's too pig-headed to do that. He'll avoid, deny and wait it out... That's my prediction.

October 31, 2013 @ 1:56 PM

"I'd say hi to Ford Nation but most of Ford Nation doesn't have internet."

What does that mean? That Ford supporters can't afford the internet? Or, there's so stupid they wouldn't know how t turn on a computer or smartphone?

That's the arrogance I"m talking about from people who hate Ford. Its your choice but by hating Ford and wanting a mayor like Miller or a Premier like Wynn doesn't make you any more intelligent.

Dear Rob Ford,

October 31, 2013 @ 3:16 PM

Doesn't this piss you off?

October 31, 2013 @ 3:19 PM

I'm not a resident of Toronto so I have no skin in the game. I think Ford has done a good job as mayor - but that's it. His personal life certainly seems in turmoil but no, I'm not pissed off in any way.

In fact, as I've previously stated, I enjoy the haters getting all worked up about Ford. Despite their charges and accusations, he still remains in office. And that, I know pisses off a lot of people. How about you?

October 31, 2013 @ 3:28 PM

I feel bad for anyone suffering from a drug addiction. It was clear Ford is a compulsive liar and for that reason I couldn't support the man (despite doing some good for the city). It was also clear there was some truth to these crack allegations given half of his inner circle resigned when they came to light.

If the allegations are true and he truly cares about the city, he should resign. Focus on his personal health and his family.

October 31, 2013 @ 3:31 PM

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

Even The Toronto Sun is calling for the mayor to resign:

And when you've lost the Sun...

Torontonians have a right to expect a higher standard of conduct from their mayor than that he is not charged with any crimes.

They have a right to expect him to be honest with them.

And unless Ford has some convincing and credible explanation for what Blair told reporters, he has not been honest with us.

For that reason, and for the good of Toronto, Ford needs to step down, both to address the whirlwind of questions now surrounding his credibility and to get his own life in order.

While Ford may well want to carry on and rally the “Ford Nation” to his cause, city council will be all but paralyzed if he continues in office now, pretending that nothing significant has happened.

Simply put, Toronto is more important than its mayor.

October 31, 2013 @ 3:56 PM

Ben Vidal

To those who think Rob Ford has done a good job, I would counter that he is one man on the council and by that definition only one vote.

His ability to get anything done or not get things done sits with the council. Nothing that has been accomplished was of his own volition. Had he not had people that would agree with him he would have been a lame duck. As it is see what happens to councilors when they do disagree with him.

Give credit where credit is due though at least dougie came up with the monorail and ferris wheel idea, I think it'll start to get some traction one of these days.

October 31, 2013 @ 4:03 PM

I think he did an alright job as mayor for the most part. I don't necessarily agree with everything, but most of it was a matter of opinion.

The MASSIVE sticking point for me is him being just plain wrong on transit. Sinking Transit City, opposing LRT DESPITE NOT EVEN UNDERSTANDING WHAT IT WAS, and the whole "To be fair, the downtown people have enough subways already," reasoning for the Scarborough subway. Yes, let's funnel even more people at a faster rate to a line that's already far over capacity.

He doesn't even get that the "downtown subway" isn't for "downtown people" -- it's obviously, to anyone with half a brain, for suburban people to get to their downtown jobs. To me, this is a massive boondoggle. And both Wynne and Harper are complicit in this as well.

Did any of you spend any time reading the police report? TPS were using surveillance & that included AIR surveillance (as in chopper or airplane). Surveillance is complicated & it's also expensive. It's very expensive when you toss in air surveillance. No police force or intelligence agency is going to pull out the big expensive guns unless there is a reason.

You know, this could get real interesting in the future. What if this goes deeper? What if they find something more to this? What happens when they start making deals? Will the rats jump the ship? Cosa Nostra and patched Motorcycle Clubs live by the adage of respect and honour. NEVER SNITCH. But everyone else? Well when their ass in the sling they'll do anything to get out of it.

AND..what if someone out there has a grievance against Mr Ford? Maybe something they've kept under their hat because they "had too". Well no time better to kick a motherfucker you hate when he's down.

Agreed, but with just a slight sliver of fairness-- it might not be against the law or rules to comment like that, but if I were Ford's mayor, I would have told him in no uncertain terms "If you're asked anything about this case, you SHUT THE FUCK UP and say no comment. We're doing enough damage control. You know you're half fucked in this. Shut your stupid mouth so you don't make things worse when it hits the fan in a week."

Of course to then LIE about why he can't talk is just absurd. There's a reason "no comment" exists.

I really don't like the spin from yesterdays announcement. Trying to make this about drinking.

I like Irvines point as well with regards to surveillance, especially the air surveillance which doesn't get trotted out everyday.

He knew full well the video can't be released because it's evidence, I thought Ford WAS a good mayor, not my mayor but I liked him anyway.

Being stubborn is just making that hole deeper by the day. Canadians are generally a forgiving bunch. If he admitted it, stepped down and gone to rehab it would work itself out. I think his political career would be over but he could get back to a somewhat normal life.

November 4, 2013 @ 12:43 PM

First I am most happy for The Star and their journalists who worked on the story, it was horrible seeing somebody who is the top of his profession like Kevin Donovan and have his name be dragged through the mud by this disgusting, compulsive lying scumbag politician like Ford. Donovan is considered the best even from his competitors, the only person I hear in the political profession to call Ford "the best" is his brother.. This insulting and slanderous notion of the paper "making it up" and it was a conspiracy has been proven to be an out right lie. Something he and his parrots have to now carry.

For the first time some of his biggest enablers in the media now taking a stand against him. All four newspapers said it was unacceptable and he should resign. But also talk radio is now pushing back on Ford Nation normal talking points. On Friday CFRB Jim Richards had an hour topic called "Ford Nation, what the hell is your deal". 640s Bill Carroll said outright that Ford lied to him and his supporters and Mike Stafford openly mocked the regular "gas plants" deflection that comes from Ford supporters.

I've called Ford Nation more of a cult than a political movement for a while now. It seems to be more and more commentators noticing that. The things is the deeper the scandal Ford is in, the more outrageous the excuses are becoming. Like today listening to 640's Jeff McArthur and a Ford nation caller actually said "He's the mayor of every person, even the drug dealers" and she was being serious. McArthur just stopped her right there and asked "Are you listening to yourself talk?" I think centralist & most right-wingers are going to start backing away or pushing back against this group as what they are saying is becoming ramblings of a crazy person.

Every site seems to be having a (unscientific) poll on the issue and it all of them say his apology wasn't enough. Do you accept his apology? G&M 81% No, I think he should step down. CFRB 64% No, I've had enough. 640AM 64% No. GLOBAL 85% No. CITYNEWS 71% No. CTV 68% No. CP24 67% No.
