The Buick Verano

The Buick VeranoI've just spent a week driving a new Buick Verano. When I was offered he Verano it was actually the first time I learned General Motors made a car called the Verano. I have since learned Verano is Spanish for summer.

My wife has agreed to write a review of this car, which I'll post later in the week. This was my first press test drive with GM, and it's worth noting they had a kick-ass magazine selection. I could have spent all day in the waiting room.

Stay tuned for Monica's review of the Buick Verano, the quiet, comfy and quick treat we shared last week.

Mike, I'm not being a CQ here - I think its awesome that you get theses freebies , but I am genuinely curious. Is this blog the only reason you get these perks? Do you really get enough exposure to make it worth their while to have you promote their stuff? Or is this somehow related to your day job?

Every one of these opportunities are because of Toronto Mike. My day job has nothing to do with it.

If I were going to check out a Buick, this is one one I'd pursue.

It doesn't look like your grandfather's Buick.

@ Corey
That's pretty much what I asked a while back. I don't see the benefit that Ford or GM would get from this. Unless of course this blog is the biggest thing out there.

Remember, they're not giving me a new car here... they're adding me to the media list.

They already have the media fleet of cars primed and ready... they've just expanded their definition of media, which is pretty smart in 2013.

When you're responsible for an awareness campaign, it's wise to put your product where the people are. That's not just the Globe and Mail, that's also smaller shops, like Toronto Mike.

Personally I'm way more likely to pay attention to a car advertised here in this fashion, than from a TV commercial. No comparison.

Sell out!

On a totally unrelated note, how might one 'hypothetically' do the same. :-)
