Picking the Last Song of the Night Was Easy

Picking the Last Song of the Night Was EasyI'm getting married in a few weeks, so we're now finalizing the music for the big event.

There's been some fun debate with regards to what song will play before the ceremony and after the ceremony and while we sign the marriage certificate and all of that, but picking the last song of the night was easy.

The last song will be Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World". This one was a no-brainer for me. Its place in the soundtrack of my life was solidified 24 summers ago when it was played on the Polar Express every night during the CNE after closing. It became the thought provoking anthem of my summer of '89.

It's the perfect cap to a magical evening. I'm just glad Monica agrees.

Good choice Mike.

Kerri and I started with Forever Young by Alphaville - the good version. Not that bastardized fast version.

We ended with The Power of Love by FGTH. It's Ker's fav.

Have a blast and thank you for not hiring me as your DJ.

Mike, what are the other songs you're playing at your wedding?

I want the list!

@Lyle Lanley

I'll do that after the wedding. I don't want to ruin the surprise for those attending.

Not a single OLP song is scheduled to be played. Believe it or not...

Ummm, nope. Never got it. Sorry Mike, I'm busy that weekend now but I'd be more than happy to send you an invoice.

That was my first song. Fine as Fine Can Be (Gordon Lightfoot) was the closer for the night. Of course, it was 1997 so there was the Macarena, Chicken Dance too (I always laugh at that..) I wish I had kept a list from that night.

@ Stephanie,

I tease Mike about hiring me as his DJ, but I used to do that - however, when my lovely bride and I got hitched, I didn't want any DJ, I wanted to DJ my own wedding so I took over a studio for a day and made 5 live CD's of mixed music for the wedding. We rented some PA gear and I brought my 5 disc changer and let 'er rip. We had 6+ hours of music to dance to all night and we still have those discs to listen too every once and a while.

Great choice. I hope it's a wonderful wedding & day. Where are you having it (a church or hall)?
