Of Albert Brooks and Super Dave Osborne

Of Albert Brooks and Super Dave OsborneAlbert Brooks has always made me laugh. Whether in movies like Broadcast News and Mother or his hilarious characters on The Simpsons, I find Brooks to be a funny guy.

When I was a kid, I'd watch Super Dave Osbourne on John Byner's Bizarre. 7-year old Mike loved the character, so I was delighted when I saw the actor, Bob Einstein, show up in Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development, two of my favourite comedies from the past decade.

Now here's a mind blowing fact for everyone...

This guy:

Is the younger brother of this guy:

Bonus mind-blowing fact: Albert Brooks was born Albert Einstein.

I recently watched the Seinfeld- Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee episode with Bob Einstein, I didn't recognize him until a few minutes in when he got out of the car.
The episode with Mel Brooks was interesting.

Blind Dave

I was at a taping of the Super Dave Osborne show because my buddy got free tickets. It was a fun evening -- a combo of live + taped (the stunt was taped, obviously). The live stuff was pretty smooth.

I have never heard of Seinfelds - Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee....just watched the episode with Michael Richards and also the episode with Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks. They are fantastic. I can't wait to watch the rest of them!!

What ever happened to John Byner? I haven't seen him for quite a while. I liked Bizarre and also loved him on Soap...one of my favourite comedies!!

Cute story. When Rob Reiners Dad, Carl-pretty funny guy himself, was asked back in the 50's, who he thought was the funniest person he knew he said, Albert Einstein.
Of course the reporter thought he was playing him but Reiner said, "No I'm serious. Albert Einstein is this kid that hangs around with my kid Rob!"
That was Albert Brooks when he was like 14 years old.
Later he went on Carson in Black Face. YOu Tube that shit. Very weird/edgy/like a lot of stuff he's done.

Sort of off topic question here...
What is the origin, or reference of that first 'mind blown' gif? Is that someone I should recognize? I could watch that for hours...
