Canadians in the NBA

canadians in nbaWhen the Toronto Raptors released Toronto native Jamaal Magloire the other day, it brought the number of Canadians in the NBA down to 8.

Here are the 8 Canadians currently playing in the NBA:

  • Joel Anthony - C - Miami Heat
  • Samuel Dalembert - C - Houston Rockets
  • Cory Joseph - PG - San Antonio Spurs
  • Kris Joseph - SF - Boston Celtics
  • Steve Nash - PG - Los Angeles Lakers
  • Andrew Nicholson - PF - Orlando Magic
  • Robert Sacre - C - Los Angeles Lakers
  • Tristan Thompson - PF - Cleveland Cavaliers

Nash playing for the Lakers presents an interesting dilemma I'll address in episode 11 of Toronto Mike'd, which just happens to be recording tonight.

Another interesting stat - there are currently ZERO Canadians playing in the NHL.

It's only basketball.. No one really cares... Raptors have had to resort to only forcing Leaf season ticket holders to buy tix, but also offering deals on GROUP-ON to move tix.

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

I know I promised to talk about the Steve Nash Dilemma on episode 11, but it got bumped from the podcast and is now an entry you'll find at http://www.torontomike.com/2012/10/the_steve_nash_dilemma.html.

Episode 11 is still really, really good and you should listen to it at http://www.torontomike.com/2012/10/toronto_miked_podcast_episode_11.html.
