Argie

Maybe one day we will win a medal in an event that Canadians actually give a crap about.

@elvis

True... although 1996 was a long time ago now whereas 2010 was a mere 2 years ago.

Bottom line is we do medal in sports people care about.

I was referring to these Olympic games - obviously.

Early days.... we typically take the first week off.

Actually, nothing much will change.

If you look back at the 2010 games, we won a majority of our medals in events that about 4 countries in the world participate.

Events like girls' hockey (not good enough to be called "women's" hockey), ski racing, freestyle skiing, short track skating and I'm sure I'm missing some other obscure sport/event....

I'd like to see you lace 'em up with the girls and compete Argie. Good luck with that.

All:

You have to realize Canada was not favorites to win any of these medals. Fortier won the judo bronze as he beat the top ranked judo participant in his 1st round & he's still only late teens early 20's.

Give these people credit for representing our great country & I beleive a LOT more medals to come.

Always find it funny when people take the time to comment about the stuff they don't care about. Their lives must be boring.

No Leo, actually it's the Olympics that are boring!

As a taxpaying Canadian, it IS my right to criticize and in this case state the obvious truth.

We send way too many athletes along with the parasitic team officials to games where most will only come away with an at best a 32nd place - or an early elimination in the heats.

@Argie,

You are correct, you have a right to criticize, but you're not obliged to.
