The First Embedded YouTube Video

The First Embedded YouTube VideoYouTube videos have been embedded in blogs since the dawn of time. Actually, that's not true. YouTube didn't exist until 2005.

Out of curiosity, I wanted to find out when I embedded a YouTube video on this blog for the first time. It was February 4, 2006 when I shared Brokeback to the Future.

Less than a year later, YouTube was purchased by Google for $1.65 billion. Coincidence? I think not.

Crazy how InstaGram was purchased for 1 billion. What would YouTube be worth today?

I've never been able to figure out on how to post the Youtube link as the preview screen you have posted up, I always end up posting the link only. DooH!

Right click on the video and it will give you options to copy the URL. Not every site allows for embedding of Youtube videos.

Far better is the early quotes about the Internet. The comments from some guy at ABC (Stephen Weiswasser) that the Internet was the CB radio of the 90s. I started streaming online around 1995. I remember clearly mailing 102.1 asking why they didn't have a stream. The response was that they didn't see any value in it nor would it help the station. Such visionaries. Interestingly, that same person now works in "social media". #FAIL

The first video from Youtube that I ever embedded was Jim Carrey singing 'Somebody To Love' from the movie Cable Guy. This was back in 2006 and in my old blog in
