The Family Channel Has Changed

RewindYouTube user Retrontario frequently uploads fantastic retro-Toronto-centric gems. These clips never fail to bring back a ton of memories for me, so I feature them from time to time.

At some point, my kids switched from Treehouse TV to Family Channel. It literally happened over night. Bob the Builder was replaced by Hannah Montana.

The Family Channel is wall-to-wall annoying kid-coms. We're talking Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck and Good Luck Charlie. It's harmless enough, I suppose... except for the insult on the intelligence.

The Family Channel sure has changed. Here's a promo from 1988. Compare this to the Hannah Montana crap they're pumping out today.

Has a station changed more radically in 13 23 years?

Tee

The Learning Channel used to show science documentaries and instructional programs.

And Leafs TV used to feature playoff teams.

Family Channel used to have some great old movies. They really should rename the station to The Tween Network...that's all it is anyway.

My vote is MuchMusic too.

And I know it's not totally on topic, but what ever happened to Saturday Morning Cartoons?!?!

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

Saturday Morning Cartoons were killed by Saved By The Bell.
