My Thoughts On What Everyone is Talking About

notepadThey call these the dog days of summer. It's hot, life is busy and less people are in front of their computers looking at blogs.

I write about what I find interesting. You'll be hard pressed to find an entry on this site I don't care about. Go ahead and search this site for information on Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton... you'll come up pretty empty, because I don't care about them.

A couple of big stories have come and gone these past two weeks, and I've intentionally ignored both. LeBron James' hour long ESPN special regarding his decision was one, and Mel Gibson's recorded phone call is the other. Considering LeBron didn't re-sign with Cleveland, I think his production was a bit over-the-top and overly insulting to Cavs fans, but he's an unrestricted free agent and he can sign wherever he likes. Clearly he'd rather join a stacked deck in Miami than build a championship around him elsewhere, but that's his prerogative. Now I have another team to root against.

Mel is a homophobic, anti-semitic, sexist, racist, angry man and I choose not to chat him up at Tim's. That's my prerogative. But that's the story. He's not a great guy and he's got issues. And Howard Stern will have a field day with his recorded phone calls for all of eternity.

Speaking of Stern, damn I'm enjoying the Sirius radio on the car I've borrowed. I've always enjoyed Stern's show, but being away from it for a year just reminded me how damn entertaining he is. I don't care what you think of Stern, I love his radio show.

And I'm glad Hedo's gone. Ball.

Mel gets a bad rap. First, he's an aging movie star who hasn't had a leading role blockbuster in years. As to his anti-semitic image, he's a devout Christian working in an industry where - according to a [announced within his own article] Jewish writer for the LA Times just a couple of January's ago - virtually every Hollywood organization is currently led by a Jewish person with the lone exception found being a Gentile yet having a Jewish father. Acting, directing, writing guilds, and all the major studios. It might provide a context for some of his publicly captured vocal frustrations.

The same could be said for MSM and the overall entertainment industry here in Canada. I don't care at all(!), but that's not quite the same as flat out 'oh no oh no controlling blah blah blah' denial.

Gibson is not just another Christian based employee, he's also a guy struggling to independently finance and produce upon his activist agenda while on the natural downside of his famed career.

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

That's quite the Mel Gibson apology!

Didn't Mel blame Jews for all the wars?

Speaking of "Tims", have you noticed the take-out cups are smaller? This is from my wife's astute observation...........personally, I refuse to drink/eat at this rip-off establishment.

I actually like to talk smack about celebrities and all pop culture and belived as you do that Mel was a racist, homophopic, etc man. However as time has progressed and the more dismantled he has become I have seen his mental illness revealed and for that reason chose not to write about this sad part of his journey. Unfortunately famewhores sense his vulnerability and antagonize and exploit him. Shame on them!!!!
