How to Win a Stanley Cup in 1993

angryIt all started when I appeared on The Team 990 in Montreal. I casually mentioned that the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs would win the same number of playoff games this season. That's when Metric Julie jumped in and challenged me to a bet. Listen below.

Then, we established the terms. If I won, Metric Julie had to sing the refrain from "The Leafs Are The Best" on The Team 990. If I lost, I had to post a Habs tribute video on this blog.

Somehow, against all odds, I lost this bet. Montreal beat Washington in game one and now I need to do what Wendel would do. Wendel would never welch on a bet. Wendel would suck it up, embed the damn video, and publish that shit like a man.

This is for you, Wendel. Oh... and Metric Julie.

p.s. ALL HEART is over here, if you need to wash that taste from your mouth. I know I'll be spending the rest of the playoffs watching it on a continuous loop.

A Habs tribute video at the top of the home page here. Maybe that explains why the site was not loading earlier this morning!?

(For the record, I am not a Leafs fan, either - never have been. They lost me for good when I moved to Toronto as a boy in the mid-70s and saw my first ever NHL game at the historic Maple Leaf Gardens - the Leafs stunk the joint out to the Pittsburgh Penguins. I was totally down at the thought of having that bunch of losers as "my 'home' team", so I never supported them. That decision has save me untold amounts of grief for over 30 years.)

You're a gentleman, Mike.

That bet was fun, and I was honestly warming up my vocal chords in preparation of a sweep.

Also, I'm glad Leafs fans who read this blog will finally be able to see what it takes to win a Stanley Cup in 1993.

All thanks to YOU, Mike.

I think the server rejected the pro-Habs content. Everything was fine until I published this entry, and then the site went down.

That ain't no coincidence.

Well this might get you more traffic on your site. Go Habs.

Pro-Habs content + Sandra Rinomato's breasts = More Traffic!

Sweet video. Your best blog post ever, Mike ;)

See, Mike? Being a habs fan benefits EVERYONE.

I would argue that this entry is the kiss of death for this blog.

Most of my traffic is from the GTA. One thing that unites us all is our love of the Leafs and hatred for the Habs and Sens. Today I'll lose 95% of the regulars.

It's nice to know I'm 5% regular, it explains why I walk funny.
Get used to those twin set of points Mike!

Thank goodness for the twins. Without them, I'd be rocking the goose egg.

I'm from toronto, but I'm a Habs fan. Go Habs go. Habs will win. Habs and Coyotes to the finals.

Kevin Smith

What a beautiful video. I love watching that one.

As for your "All Heart", you're right, Wendel Clark was all heart. And that's it. Which is why he never won anything.
