"A Tremendous Shot" - Tom Cheek on Doug Ault

Blue JaysVernon Wells and Adam Lind went deep today as the Jays lost to the Rangers on opening day. That's a great excuse for me to share some audio from our very first opening day on April 7, 1977.

This is the late great Tom Cheek calling the first home run in Blue Jays history. It was hit by Doug Ault who would add another before the day was through.

A tremendous shot!

I'm just glad baseball season is finally here. Peanuts, flip flops, beer and home-runs. That is what summer is about.

Good game today. Tough loss, but some encouraging signs.

I can't believe that call was from 1977. Tom Cheek sounded just the same back then.
