My PVR Hit List These Days

tvI caved and got a PVR earlier this year. It has radically altered the way I watch television.

Other than live sporting events, everything else I watch is watched at my convenience after I've recorded it. I watch television when I'm ready to watch television, typically at about 10pm, and I fast forward all the commercials.

Here are the television programs I currently record and watch when I get a chance.

  • Curb Your Enthusiasm
  • The Simpsons
  • The Cleveland Show
  • Family Guy
  • American Dad
  • 60 Minutes
  • The View From Here
  • The Passionate Eye
  • Modern Family
  • Glee (the kids like it, it bores me to tears when they're not singing)
  • The Office
  • 30 Rock
  • Californication
  • Dexter
  • Saturday Night Live

That's my current PVR hit list. When Lost starts up again, we'll throw that in the pile.

Where do you get the time to watch so much TV? What's your secret?

Your list needs more Breaking Bad sir. Season 3 starts in March, first 2 seasons are only 20 episodes (7 and 13) total. Lots of time to catch up if you aren't familiar with it.

I think you need to boost your Cancon there Mike.
Try Sanctuary, The Border, The Tudors (not really Cancon but I'll give it a pass), many more. ;)

If you like The Office and 30 Rock, try Parks and Recreation. It's good, and very similar. Community isn't bad as well.

Also...Mad Men!

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

Mad Men and Breaking Bad are on my "gotta check it out" list, but I need to start both at the beginning.

I've tried Breaking Bad (somewhat) and *really* tried Mad Men. Breaking Bad was ok. Mad Men BORED me to no end.

I told you the DVR would change your life, didn't I? ;)

SNL? Well at least you listed it last.
Now having analog OTR only, with random signal jamming and weakenings (sometimes perfectly clear then immediately gone completely any length of time; other times ghosty as Casper), I miss reliable digital delivery. On the plus side - dvd sets abound.

Guess no one watches reality tv? Try Amazing Race, Survivor, Top Chef, Dancing with the Stars. All are one while my kids are going to bed...I PVR them all.

Diners, Drive Ins and Dives is a good one on the Food Network. Anyone see that?

Indeed, James. Makes me want to take a road trip across the US every time and hit all those ridiculous joints.
