American Gangster

A Movie ReelAmerican Gangster: 8 out of 10.

In 2006 I was invited to a world premiere of a Ridley Scott directed film starring Russell Crowe. The film I saw that night couldn't hold a candle to this gem of a flick chronicling the rise and fall of Frank Lucas.

I saw this movie on DVD so I got to see the 176 minute unrated version. I had to break it up over two night, because that's just too long, but I was never bored and I was left wanting more. I didn't know much about Lucas going in and that made it all the sweeter.

Hey Ridley, avoid the romantic comedies.

Hey Mike...have discovered that the movies I watch and books I read that are based on true stories have to pass my "must google NOW test"...that's where I immediately want to google the characters and story asap to find out more info...Must have been on the internet for an hour + after American Gangster...

I'm coming to TO for work tomorrow, how's the smog and construction this summer???

We ex-Toronto-ers are annoying aren't we? (and it's not even hockey season yet...)

Toronto Mike

It was super humid today - like a blanket of hot air. I'm sure the smog was high, but I didn't hear about a smog alert.

I'm glad you Ottawagians are checking ahead before crossing into the 416. I believe there's a good line or two in American Gangster about doing just that.

Stick to the express lanes on the 401. The collector lanes are chock full of annoying grooved pavement in the east end.

Thanks for the updates boys...had a great trip, I love getting the chance to visit "home" I think on this visit I may not have made it into the actual 416 at all...airport to office in Vaughan to friends in Port Credit and back to the airport...weird, you know the city is big when you visit and only make a dent in the outskirts...
