The Monday Shuffle

iTunesEvery Monday I shuffle my entire MP3 collection in iTunes and list the first ten songs that played. Here are the ten tunes I heard today with a personal story about one of them.

  1. Wild Horses - Rolling Stones
  2. Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin
  3. In My Secret Life - Leonard Cohen
  4. Lithium - Evanescence
  5. G.O.D. We Tru$t - Maestro
  6. The Way - Fastball
  7. About Me - They Might Be Giants
  8. Free To Decide - The Cranberries
  9. I Predict A Riot - Kaiser Chiefs
  10. Into Temptation - Crowded House

I'm not a big Evanescence fan, but I've given their first two albums a spin or two, so I'm familiar with the content. I always thought it was rather ballsy of Amy Lee to name one of their tunes "Lithium". There's another "Lithium" in the rock world that you might be more familiar with and it sorta means a mega crapload to dudes my age.

Evanescence's "Lithium" is rather forgettable, but it's an awesome segue into one of my favourite songs of all-time.

Doesn't this mean that you should, well, talk about that other Lithium then? ;)

FYI, going by this list you're not much of an electronic/dance music fan, but it might be of interest to you that The Real Lithium had somewhat of a renaissance last year, and featured in quite a few massive dance sets. If you don't check out any of the others, I highly, highly recommend the promo that Diplo put together - one of my favourite mash-up sets of all time. Completely flawless. And with added Lithium.

Ok, I'll bite.

What's this Real Lithium you speak of?

The other Lithium = The Real Lithium = Nirvana's...

That was confusing :)

I thought there was this electronic / dance song called "The Real Lithium" that I completely missed.
