Maple Leafs 4, Penguins 6

LeafsHow many of these are there going to be this season. This was a game I thought we should have won. We were up 3-1 in the second when some guy named Sidney Crosby woke up and scored his first two goals of the season, including the winner with 4:22 to play.

Vesa Toskala got the start and was very good, despite allowing 5 goals. Pittsburgh was given an all-access pass to the guy all night and peppered him with 52 shots. Jason Blake got his first goal as a Leaf and Mats Sundin continued to put points on the board and now has ten in our first six games. He's tied for 2nd overall in that department.

Current Record  Last Games Season Leaders
2-3-1
5 points
Tied for 3rd in Northeast
6-4 Loss vs. Pittsburgh
8-1 Win vs. New York Islanders
7-1 Loss vs. Carolina
M. Sundin - 10
N. Antropov - 7
M. Stajan - 6

Leave it to the Leafs to bring a team out of a slump. I don't know how many losing streaks by other teams have been ended by the blue and white, but I know the number is significant.

Mike (Buffalo Boy)

Well, Vesa better bring his game tomorrow night because Buffalo is going to bring more of the same. They had 53 shots last night against Washington and beat Atlanta before that with a barrage.

Mats is off to a hot start...Too bad Wellwood is hurt again. They should change his name to Sickwood. Can he stay healthy?

It does look like my prediction for a breakout year for Antropov is going to ring true as long as he can stay healthy. He had another solid game especially on Sundin's line, and so what does Maurice do? He takes Antropov off the top line in the second half of the game. I'm a fan of Maurice, but I've got to question some of his decisions as of late.

In the end, the best team won despite a shaky start. My new favourite team, the Pens.
