Leafs TV Chunk Continues to Grow

leafs

I openly acknowledged my weakness back in 2005.  Some Leaf games only air on Leafs TV and I didn't want to miss them, so I ponied up the coin and subscribed to channel 414.  There was instant gratification.

According to globesports.com, Leafs TV will air about 25 games next season.  That's a pretty big chunk of the season, but Rogers will bump Leafs TV to a basic digital tier, whatever that means.  Not surprisingly, the Toronto Maple Leafs are the most expensive regional property in Canadian television.

When the National Hockey League club's new TV agreements are announced in two weeks, the fee that a network will pay to televise a single game will be more than $500,000, according to sources.
That's almost twice the amount paid to the Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens by Rogers Sportsnet and Reseau des Sports, respectively.

We don't actually win anything, but we're beloved.  I'd rather be despised winners than lovable losers, but I'm not about to give up my Leafs TV subscription any time soon.  That Leafs TV chunk is only going to grow.
