The Virginia Tech Emails of April 16, 2007

emailIn 2007, the ideal form of communication with university students is email. People of that generation are always connected, even when out and about they're receiving email on their cell phone, Blackberry or other PDA. Is nothing SACRED anymore. Schools (too many shootings)& it gets more horrific each time. What & When is next?
A lot of people in one place & that's when tragedy occurs. I'm surprised sporting events haven't been targeted. Gun control is the answer, but BUSH has a different philosophy.

Gun control? We make guns illegal and the flow continues through different avenues. I don't think some tragedies can be averted. A messed up guy angry about a girl goes crazy and shoots everyone he sees. How can you prevent this?

My heart goes out to all those involved.

What bugs me more than anything is that when these 32+ people died, it made somebody's day in the CNN Newsroom. Go ahead Ted Turner, spread that propaganda. Create that fear! How else can you hold the general mob under your finger? Stupid Country!!

The big question is why?. Why do students periodically shoot up their schools?

I don't think you can prevent it. You can do things to minimize and contain such a rampage, but if someone wants to do something like this, there's little you can do to prevent it.

Our brains are pretty damn complex and sometimes they break or a wire or two get crossed. We can try and be more sensitive to warning signs, but there's only so much that can be done without making school like a prison, and that shouldn't be an option.

As for CNN loving this, that's the nature of the beast. They've got programming up the wazoo and a captivated audience. This guy made their day.

The shooter's name was Cho Seung-Hui, 23, a senior from South Korea who was in the English department at Virginia Tech.
