Maple Leafs 1, Sabres 3

LeafsI found it easier to love our craptacular teams of the 1980s. They'd bore us in the Norris and I was young enough to get really excited about a 6-5 win over Chicago in the middle of January and forgive them for finishing 19th overall.

The Buffalo Sabres are missing eight regulars to injury, but they keep steamrolling us. They're first in the NHL and 3-0 against us this season. Their fans have something to look forward to this spring while we're hoping we'll somehow pull it together and sneak into eighth place in the conference. Don't we in the capital of the NHL hockey kingdom deserve better?

Mike, you do deserve better. I love the Sabres Leafs rivalry...We should all be rooting for a Buffalo Leafs series in the Playoffs. Its also got to be scary that even with 8 regulars out that the Sabres are doing so well. They basically have 6-7 NHL ready forwards in their system. Everyone here is saying keep briere keep drury but if they dont they are not necessarily in trouble. THeay have a TON of talent. As far as the leafs, it looks like the 80s all over again...which is aroud the same time I made them my second favorite team. I wanted an underdog...and then the Gilmour years were great. I wouldnt worry they need to develop through the draft and build back up. It seems like they are always trying to do it with the high priced or the big name guy.
They have to take the time to develop their system. There was a time three or four years ago when we never though we would have a team like this in Buffalo ever again...
But now it appears we have the best general manager in the league who has the patience to do it right.
