The New Law I Thought Was The Old Law

carTransportation Minister Donna Cansfield yesterday introduced an amendment to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act that would require one seat belt for every person in a vehicle that travels on Ontario's roads.

I've always thought that was the law. I had no idea you could legally have more passengers in your car than seat belts. Is this news to anyone else?

You know Booner, I was watching this story on the news yesterday and I was shocked. First off, I too always thought that was the law. Second, with such emphasis on seat belt safety how can the government be such hypocrites?

If not the law, you'd think it was at least common sense. But people tend to sleep through that class.

It's the law for those with a G1 (and possibly G2) license. Not allowed to have more people in the car than there are seatbelts. Once you've got your full G (or possibly G2), you're free to play clown car all you want.
