Return of the Blue Jays

Jays

The Blue Jays open their 2006 season on Tuesday when the Twins come to town.  For the first time in a while, there are very real expectations for this club.  We're all thinking about the playoffs again.  Here's our starting rotation, better than it's been in years.

  • Roy Halladay
  • A. J. Burnett
  • Ted Lilly
  • Gustavo Chacin
  • Josh Towers

I'm totally digging that rotation.  Heck, I think Lilly can win 20 games if he stays healthy.  Staying healthy will be the key, but if this core group manages to do that, B. J. Ryan is ready to close things out.

Looking at our starting nine gives me more reason to be optimistic.  Here's how it's shaping up.

  • Bengie Molina - C
  • Lyle Overbay - 1
  • Aaron Hill - 2
  • Russ Adams - SS
  • Troy Glaus - 3
  • Frank Catalanotto - LF
  • Vernon Wells - CF
  • Eric Hinske - RF
  • Shea Hillenbrand - DH

That's solid.  I'm excited.  Will post-season play return to Toronto for the first time in twelve years?  Bet on it.
