My Bad Ass Rap

Rewind

On Easter Sunday, I hooked up with the usual suspects to break bread and celebrate.  Steve dropped the opening line from my bad ass rap song and Vanessa chuckled.  You see, when I was a silly teenager in the late 80s, I wrote a rap song.

Originally it was just four lines, but I would drop this science with defiance and it wasn't long before those around me had it memorized.  To this day I have those words tattooed in my brain.  "I'm back, no sucker MC task, dope lyrics and a beat to blast. When I'm on the mic, the others are dead last.  Take caution, I'm starting to kick ass."

When I discovered an old scrap book I kept, I discovered a hand written lyric sheet for this bad ass rap that contains many more than four lines.  I'm posting this song I wrote in all its glory.  Keep in mind when reading that I was fairly young and anything cheesy you did in the 80s is exempt from ridicule.  Here it is.

I'm back, no sucker MC task
Dope lyrics and a beat to blast
When I'm on the mic, the others are dead last
take caution, I'm starting to kick ass
My only monkey come as in brass
Down with the dogs, you got no class
Like a frog you'll croak with pain
tough like a ninja, crack with a cane
No homeboy, I'm not pain
I'm top notch, go home black-eyed Jane
Call me the braun, next the brain
Over and over I'm going insane
Pull over jack rabbit, I'm leaving fast
So quit it...

I'm no longer ashamed of my 80s rap past.  Looking back, they were indeed dope lyrics.
