Open Water: 5.5 out of 10.
I should preface this mini-review by telling you that Taryn thought this was a really scary movie. I, however, didn't, and that's why I didn't score "Open Water" higher.
It's actually not a bad effort. It's shot minimalistic style, with few actors, nobody you've ever heard of, and a simple premise. In the vein of "The Blair Witch Project", it's anticipation and ambience that provides the eerie effect. It's sort of cool, but at the end of it all you're unfulfilled.
Depending on your tolerance for fear, you'll either find this chilling in "Jaws"-like fashion or "Back To The Beach" with motion sickness.
