Oh man, wish this was just another deep dive now that SeattleSportsMedia is no longer a viable guest and Shoalts is probably the only guy left standing on the sports media beat.

It's probably longer than his initial deep dive. We do about 45 minutes on the state of Canadian sports media before we kick out the jams.

We only did 45 minutes before Hebsy crashed his episode 150.

Before we kick out the jams, we talk about the following topics:

Prime Time Sports... has Bob McCown renewed?

Does Al Strachan hate him?

Lance Brown and Joe Tilley at CTV Toronto update

Leafs Guy on TSN - Is Todd Shapiro doing mornings with Landsberg?

What's up with Howard Berger and his Auston Matthews nonsense?

The Reporters... why did TSN cancel the show and could the show have continued without Dave Hodge?

The Athletic.... what does Shoalts think of that model and approach?

Is Globe sports shifting to feature writing rather than traditional beat reporting?

How's Sholts's stand-up career going?

I tweeted these words, but thought I'd copy and paste them here.

I can't fathom what it would be like to lose a child. When David Shoalts explains his final jam, you can hear my heart breaking. I urge everyone to listen to David's words of eternal grief.

It was David's third episode with me, but the first time he spoke publicly about his loss. This is a very difficult week for him. I can't imagine...

I was predisposed to enjoy this episode because I like Dave Shoalts and also because I sensed that our musical tastes are very similar. In that regards, the episode did not disappoint.

More importantly, the final segment was a very human moment shared by both Dave and Mike. Dave's grief and loss was evident both in words and emotion; Mike's empathy shone through.

I wish all the strength to Dave, family and friends as they cope with their loss.

+1, Shoalts is the best guy for media coverage, too bad its only a short podcast.

Howard Berger
-He came across as the nicest guy on your podcast, but he's always been such a mean spirited person person to fans and those who he produces content towards. It was the case in the last half of his fan career and now he's doubled down. Sad

What a brave man!! Hands down, the most emotional and powerful KOTJ episode to date.
The last ten minutes would surely go a long way towards lowering the resistance of even the
most strident of KOTJ deniers!! Really loved his musical taste and accompanying stories.

Not my style of jams, but enjoyed listening. It was cool to here him speak of Sneezy Waters and the Hank Williams show; I just read a chapter on the creation of that show, in the excellent new book on Toronto's Legendary Horseshoe Tavern.

catching up on episodes. This one was really good, and sad. Mike, you're doing a great job having casual conversations with people that are either strangers, or people that you've only met a few times. Your delivery and ability to get people to open up (not just Shoalts, but many others) is great. keep up the great work
