Kudos on the Ken "Cowboy" Pompey exclusive. That's the funnest of facts for this EC and Jays fan.

No apology required. It was my fault. Well, the server's fault.

I cleaned up your comments for you.

I know I'm the only one pounding this drum, but I still think it's so odd that Richard Syrett hosts 'The Conspiracy Show' on Zoomer Radio 740 but also fills-in for George Noory on 'Coast to Coast AM' which he hosts from the AM 640 studio. Does anyone in the market host similar shows on competing stations?

Not quite the same, but Roz Weston does plenty of TV for Corus (which owns Global) but is on a Rogers radio station every morning.

Coast to Coast AM Wacko radio, work a lot of nites will tune in on my way home lots of crazies out there. Interesting as hell!

Okay. I am far from first. I didn't even try earlier. Lots of stuff going on. I can't use the new work software so I had to keep using the old software, but some commands got taken out of the old software so have to use something new that doesn't work. My speech software isn't reading a lot of stuff. Also Hydro changed their web site so it doesn't really work with speech software so I went back to paper bills, but this guy on Hydro insisted I try resetting my password. Things didn't work. Well, I have to print my bills anyway, so I wasn't really saving paper by going paperless. Anyway, My Coyotes lost last night. Hopefully my Cavs and Suns win tonight. It's a basketball night tonight. More hockey tomorrow with Leafs at Habs. Habs will beat them. Anyway, football Sunday. Even both teams are in my pool, I hope the Ravens can find a way to beat the Cowboys. Why can't the Browns win anything. They're killing me. What's wrong with Cleveland's football team.

I'm not working today so my brain says it's Saturday. I've had to remind myself a few times that it's Friday.

Had a good workout on the tread today, then hauled a pile heavy stuff out of my garage and paid someone off to take it to the dump.

We did most of our Xmas shopping last week and we have just one stop to make today, though it is a very nice glass shop so this should be relatively painless compared to the box stores. We'll see how my wallet is feeling afterwards.

The High Command is off today too so I promised her supper out somewhere. She has it down to two restaurants and she is in the bath right now working through the choices.

Oh, I can go to my mailbox now. It's not Saturday. It's Friday!

Big news on Mike Bullard and finally 1010 acknowledging it. Think he is toast now in radio? Also wonder how his corporate gigs in comedy will do. His best case scenario is getting that peace bond. His lawyer says he is in therapy now. Just another con job to make it look like he actually is trying to rehab. Really? A 59 year old rude guy trying to change his spots.

We saw Mike Bullard emcee at the Conn Smythe Dinner a couple of years ago. It was "chalkboard finger nails" humour and not funny at all. My wife who is usually a good sport actually asked if we can go home because of his bully tactics on stage.

I'm not a fan of Trump and like most people pretty bothered by the fact he won, but he did win. He won an election in a democracy and now a few spoiled people are protesting this. I know he's vile and sexist and a few others adjectives but.....he won fair and square.

November 18, 2016 @ 8:19 PM

@Nick

The vast majority of protesters are well aware he won the election but are making a statement and holding him accountable.

A friend's wife will be marching on Washington the day of Trump's inauguration. It's a massive effort to stand up against Trump's anti-woman policies.

November 18, 2016 @ 8:24 PM

gary middleton

Nick, he's not just vile and sexist. He also called for mass protests after Obama's win in 2012, and strongly suggested he would not accept the results if he lost in 2016. So Trump sowed the seeds for the kind of protests you are now finding so distasteful.

re: Mike Bullard, I can't help but think of that saying about be nice to people on the way up, because you never know when you'll meet them again on the way down! Here's one comedian/commentator (and former website designer) who's not the biggest Bullard fan after an experience having met him. We're only hearing one side of course, but would such a video be produced if he only came away with the thought back in the day of Bullard being kind and good-natured?

Well, there was hockey as well yesterday. My Habs lost, but Price wasn't in goal. They saved him for the Leafs. Anyway, Habs and Coyotes will win tonight. How about those Cavs again. that was a great basketball game. That was awesome beating the Pistons so they're back to winning 10 and 2 so far. My Suns also won. I wish they would keep going. My Nets lost again though which was not so good. They will win tomorrow though. Football tomorrow. I want some upsets like my Ravens to beat the Coweoys and the Browns to finally win a game over the Steelers and my Cardinals to win. I need wins.

Re:Trump protests. How many of these people went out and voted? That was the time to really make your voice heard.

Not that I am happy he won, but the percentage of people who do not vote is appalling.

November 19, 2016 @ 8:43 AM

Javed Jafri

I agree J9. Right now the vote count is HRC - 62,523,126 amd Trump - 61,201,031 which probably means that a lot of voters stayed at home. HRC was the lesser of two evils and the choice was not good. I actually think the non-foreign interventionist part of Trump's flank was a good one but it remains to be seen if the hawkisk republicans will let that be. Also the racial and anti-immigration stances and Trump's recent appointments are scary and retro . A definate step backwards.

November 19, 2016 @ 12:03 PM

Rob J

Of the following: 1) registered voters who stayed home 2) Trump voters 3) Clinton voters, Trump voters came in third, yet he was declared the victor due to a hilariously outdated and undemocratic mechanism. If that's not worthy of protest, nothing is.

November 19, 2016 @ 12:23 PM

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

And peaceful protests are an important right... many progressive changes came from mass protest.

Another right that should be protected? The right to boo... Heck, if Leafs fans are going to boo P.K. (as a Predator!) at the ACC, theatre fans can boo Mike Pence.

November 19, 2016 @ 12:35 PM

Rob J

Trump rose to power claiming for YEARS that Obama was illegitimate due to his alleged Kenyan birthplace and most laughed it off as the rantings of a deranged, needy and pathetic douchebag. There's a lot of retroactive booing that needs to be released.

I was watching CNN on Nov. 8th and some of line ups to vote were 3 hours long. No wonder 46% of the population did not vote. Any time I have ever voted, I was in and out in 10 min. at my local elementary school....

November 19, 2016 @ 3:23 PM

The election in the USA exposed a lot about Democrat and Republican supporters, and how far they were willing to go in support of their candidate.
The huge numbers that didn't vote (I heard 100 million eligible voters) goes to show you if people really were worried about a Trump victory, they should have held their nose and voted for Hillary.

When you get Pro Football players making statements about not standing for the National Anthem (ie Colin Kaepernick ) then admitting he didn't vote, you just lost a huge number of his followers who could have swayed the vote.
I have always encouraged my 2 kids to vote, (my daughter for the first time in the last Federal election) and though we didn't agree and had some heated debates (me Conservative, her vote went to Trudeau and the Liberals). I have always told them they don't have a right to bitch if they don't cast their vote.
I think the number (or popular vote) is a red herring, given the population variations in each state, there would be distortions. Just as Toronto keeps electing the Provincial Liberals, just by the number of concentrated voters (and ridings) in this region.

Well, how aboult those Habs. That was a close one, but a win and that's great. They saved Price for last night and they always win when Price is in net because the Price is right. My Coyotes also won. That was another close one, but they won it. My Suns lost though. That was no good. The Sixers are not very good. The Suns should have beaten the Sixers. Anyway, it's another football Sunday today. Hopefully I will get lots of wins, but I really need another Ravens win and a Cardinals win and a Browns win would be good because they haven't won. I don't know why the Browns can't win, but they need to win. My Nets also play today as well. Hopefully a win by my Nets. My Nets play the Blazers and then the Blazers play at my Cavs on Wednesday. Cavs don't play until Wednesday. It's Santa Claus parade today as well. Who cares though. Santa is a guy who wears a pillow in his stomach to make him fat and he just sasys he is Santa. There's no such thing as Santa. He really doesn't exist.

Sorry Dale but I don't think you can call Plagerism on The Stones Wild Horses. The song was actualy written in 1969 when Keith and Mick were hanging out with former Byrds and then Burrito country rock pioneer Gram Parsons. In fact The Flying Burrito Brothers version og the song came out in 1970 before the Stones version from Sticky Fingers from 1971. The Pagliaro single was from 1971 I think.

Agreed that he's a great Canadian talent though.

November 20, 2016 @ 10:35 AM

Toronto Mike Verified as the defacto Toronto Mike

Admittedly, I don't know a whole lot about Michel Pagliaro, but it does seem that the Rolling Stones released Wild Horses in '71 (but recorded it way back in '69) and Pagliaro released Rainshowers in '72.

I'd accuse Pagliaro of ripping off the Stones, but the songs are different enough for me.

November 20, 2016 @ 10:41 AM

Javed Jafri

and Mike there was the first released version of Wid Horses on the second album by The Flying Burrito Brothers in 1970. I think that was the first time I heard the song as I was a big fan of country rock. I think we can count out any pereipral plagerism between the songs.

Gram Parson's country influence on the Stones should be noted and comes out in other songs during the period including Country Honk and Dead Flowers.

OK I admit I didn't do my homework. I only remembered Wild Horses after Rainshowers was recorded.
Sorry.

@ Toronto Mike

Yes you are correct, protesting has merit but if you really dissect this election, these protestors should be protesting in front of CNN and MSNBC who essentially told everyone this election was in the bag, so much so that I understand and heard Hillary hadn't prepared a concession speech. Trump won this election with the same rules that Obama, Bush, Clinton etc., did. I would not be surprised if many of these protestors didn't or couldn't vote.

November 20, 2016 @ 1:46 PM

elvis

@Nick - every news outlet predicted a Hillary win - including FOX. If Trump wasn't the narcissist he is, I would have also guessed he didn't prepare a victory speech. Everyone, on both sides, was surprised with the outcome. It was a surprise victory based on the information that was available to everyone.

Not a good sports day yesterday. It sucked. My Ravens lost. I do have the Cowboys in my pool though. Anyway, my Cardinals also lost. Browns lost. Lions won which is good. Chiefs lost. Packers lost which is bad. My Nets lost again. Yes, again. Anyway, Santa does not exist. He wears a pillow in his stomach to make him look fat. No man can climb down a chimney anyway. Speaking of the tune Wild Horses, a local band called Dead Flowers has been doing shows highlighting the Stones' country period. A group of recognizable musicians from big T.O. acts, they are definitely doing shows in December (coming out my way to the Starlight). It sounds like there is some interest in that era around here - check them out if you get a chance.

Was not aware of The Toronto Dead Flowers but doing some googling reveals that ther may be a US band of that name as well. Anyway the Stones song is a personal fave and one of the best cover versions comes via one time Grateful Dead off shoots - The New Riders of The Purple Sage, one of the best country rock groups in their heyday. Check out the NRPS version of Dead Flpwers on You Tube.

Okay, so maybe there are no chimneys now, but Santa really doesn't exist. He is any old guy who puts a pillow in his stomach so he is Santa. Anyway, there is no real Santa. Anyway, my Suns lost again. They were leading in the third quarter, but they lost again. That is not a good thing.

Dead flowers is one of the very few songs i can play completely. Well n open chord a version of it anyway.
when i had my house in pickering afew friends used to come over most thursday for a jam night. the one guy who came most often was a country fan ex country band member so we played a lot of country. Dead flowers was favourite of his , and its ingrained in my brain LOL.

The Stones version is Brutal IMHO at least Micks vocals are. I like the version that Gilby Clarke does with Axl Rose.

I'm not familiar with the The New Riders of The Purple Sage version but i'll be looking it up.

Nov. 22 - 1963

A day that shocked the world. JFK Pres. of USA shot & killed in Dallas.
I was in grade 3 getting supplies for my teacher from the principal when his wife called him & told him the news. He was looking at me with tears in his eyes. He told me I will make an announcement over the PA shortly.

I'll always remember that day & especially 2 days later when Oswald was shot on live TV.
9/11 was #1 but Nov. 22/63 was # 2 on my list of memorable days.

My Habs lost last night. That sucked. I can't believe Carey Price lost, but he did. Oh well, so they'll win the next game tomorrow. My Cavs and Suns will win tonight as well as my Coyotes. that will be good.

Anyway, how about those Cavs. How about Kevin Love scoring 34 points in the first quarter. That was great. Great win. How about those Suns as well. Another great win and it's about time. Nets didn't do so good. They had to lose. Hockey was not good. My Coyotes lost big time. Oh well, my Habs will win tonight. Carey Price will bounce back and get the win.
