Andrew

Good episode guys technically. Does sound better. When I get there the next time remind me to do a little tweaking with the EQ on the guest mics.

And for the record Elvis, I offered my services to Mike remotely and did it via Skype whilst working on a show :)

Cheers,
Andrew

You guys have come a long way. This is great stuff.

Thanks Andrew and Lyle.

Not to stir the pot or anything, but while Jake Muzzin might have got a ring for the first stanley cup win that's not telling the whole story. If he didn't play any games his name wouldn't be on the cup and that's a pretty important detail.

@sctt

You are correct, he did not qualify to have his name engraved on the cup.

elvis

He is in fact not correct. Teams can petition the NHL to add player's names who were unavailable due to extenuating circumstances. Marc Savard appears with the Bruins on their 2011 team on Stanley.

He's actually right. Muzzin didn't get his name on the cup the first time they won. He did, however, get a ring.

You're wrong. Seriously. I see now why Muzzin goes crazy.

Are factually incorrect. He did not have to play to be on the cup. I'm not saying he is but it's not as black and white as both you and sctt have indicated. It's actually very grey (again, not necessarily with Jake).

I'm starting to think you're nuts. It's right here on the nhl.com site:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=25432

"To have one's name engraved on the Stanley Cup certain requirements must be met. A player must have at least 41 games played with the club or one game played in the Stanley Cup Finals."

Explain Marc Savard to us then Commissioner Boon. How is he on the Cup for the 2011 Bruins win with only 25 games played?

@elvis

The commissioner made an exception to the rule because Savard's case was exceptional.

For those without such a sad story, we have the rule.

July 7, 2014 @ 3:03 PM

elvis

Exactly. So it's not black and white. It's a rare exception yes, but not impossible to be on the Cup without being on the ice.

Suck on that.

Toronto Mike'd cancelled due to Jake Muzzin.
