Habs Fans Resort to Prayer

The Catholic Church of Montreal has Habs fans praying for a miracle. In an ad run in La Presse and Le Journal de Montreal newspapers, they've printed the hopeful final NHL standings with 8th place occupied by "Pray".

With the Montreal Canadiens currently sitting in 14th place, it's going to take more than prayer for them to finish 8th, but it's fun seeing things are this desperate in Montreal. They certainly won't make the playoffs without divine intervention.

I don't believe in prayer, but I'd hope those who do would pray for something a little more righteous, like a Leafs Stanley Cup parade this June.

I love how they write the teams names in french. They are the names of the teams, you don't change that. When they write a story about Mike Richards do the call him Michelle Richare...stupid frenchies!!

The names Iof the cites are en Francais, when the name sof the teams when included aren't modified.

True the Habs will not make the playoffs this years.

I hope my Toronto friends have 2 parades to attend in June. 2012.

We saw this on the news last night and both looked at each other and rolled our eyes.

I know their glory days are long gone by, as even a year or two in sports is considered an eternity these days. Regardless of whether you love them or hate them, it is so pathetic to see such a storied franchise resort to such futility.

As for writing team names in french, that is perfectly normal. If you read foreign newspapers, you'll see the same thing in their own language.

Maybe its time to change to Prayer. It's the only HABS chance. Tomorrow MATS SUNDIN to be honored by the Leafs, much like Gomez getting 1st goal in 369 days.
