10 Years of Fatherhood

10 Years of Fatherhood I'm going to make this as short and unschmaltzy as possible.

Ten years ago today, this happened.

Mike and James

With a decade of fatherhood behind me, I think I've got the hang of it. My goal was always to raise children who aren't assholes. I have assholic tendencies I blame on my father, so everything I do with my son and daughter is designed to make them kind, thoughtful, hard-working, and modest but confident citizens.

This is my beloved son James who turns ten today. He's kind, thoughtful, hard-working and modest but confident and I'm so friggin' proud of him.

This is the only time, that I can recall - you ever mentioning a father. And yet you still blame that person for your ongoing issues?

I didn't see it as blame. It seems to me Mike has recognized the negative tendencies in his family tree and decided to change it with his children so they have one less negative thing in their lives to deal with.

All very wise and positive to me.

Nicely said. Similar situation myself growing up. Us as parents have to to do the best as we can for our kids always.

That's Ford Canada's fault - as a knowledgable member of Ford Int'l's marketing efforts where women buy as many vehicles as men? Mike is just getting a good deal from it all.
