Maple Leafs 3, Kings 5

leafsThe George Carlin of the Barilkosphere, also known as Down Goes Brown, had this to tweet the other night.

Dear 2009-10 Toronto Maple Leafs. You have no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I hate you.

That, in a nutshell, is precisely the problem. There are no redeeming qualities to speak of. We watch, because it's our team, and you don't desert your team during bad times, but you don't have to love your team. You can root for your team and hate your team. I have the right to hate my team, and I hate this team.

And now the vultures are circling, picking through the carcass of this Leafs' season. All this and our first round pick belongs to Boston.

There's more to say... so much more... but in typical 2009-10 Toronto Maple Leafs fashion, I'm going to underwhelm as I disappoint and miss your already low expectations.

I'm going to assume that the Leafs have absolutely no chance in hell of making the playoff this year. Sad. Expected but still sad nonetheless.

I am confused as to why anyone thought that they were going to make the finals this year. I still recall that during the off-season both Wilson & Burke said there would be some lean years ahead. I took that to mean no finals (i.e. rebuilding). What burns me is the draft picks we gave up for this current team...a waste...

The thing that really makes this season worthless (and possibly next) is not having a great first round pick at the end of this awfulness.

Leaf fans can live with the team not winning, but I think what's killing them is feeling like the team has no direction.

Phil Kessel is the guy they are going to build this team around, a few key free agent signings and at the very least they get back to 7th or 8th place next year.
