Frankenberry Cereal

Frankenberry CerealYouTube user Retrontario frequently uploads fantastic retro-Toronto-centric gems. These clips never fail to bring back a ton of memories for me, so I feature them from time to time.

When I was a kid, a few cereals we were never allowed to have were Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo Berry. The ads and names of these cereals made them sound more like dessert than breakfast, and that's precisely why they never got into our home.

Although Count Chocula is still around, it's tough to find Franken Berry and Boo Berry in these parts. It's strange, but I find myself nostalgic for a cereal I've never tried.

Here's an ad for Franken Berry cereal that aired in 1985, just in time for Halloween.

Now that you mention it, I do remember the Mummy character showing up at some point...

They have all of these, plus Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Pebbles and Cookie Crisp, at the No Frills grocery store @ Bathurst and Wilson. JOY!
