When Gmail Goes Down

Google I started using Gmail over five years ago. My work email resolves in Gmail, making it an integral part of my personal and professional life.

I love Gmail as an email client. The filters, the labels, the conversations, the integrated chat, it's served me well for half a decade.

All is well, until Gmail goes down. It's down right now. I'm paralysed.

I have one simple question for the hive mind. What email client do you use?

Gmail, Outlook Exchange for my daytime job.

I use gmail, I can't log online (same error message) but my outlook is working through my google account (POP).

GMX - it's a smaller system but it works well. I got a very easy-to-remember email through them. You can get your own gmx.ca addy pretty easily, and it's easy to get started.

I also have a GMAIL address, a YAHOO address, a HOTMAIL address, but GMX gets most of my love.

I'm fascinated by people who get email in more than one place. I suppose I can see why some would have a different client for work email (Outlook or whatever) than other mail, but why have Gmail, Yahoo! and Hotmail?

Started with Hotmail. Still using Hotmail. I have accounts with a few others that I rarely use.

Gmail with IMAP for my Linux/Solaris/Mac OS X workstations, and phone too.

Working OK all day (so far as I can tell)

@Mike - good questions all. Is life back to normal with Gmail back? :)

I have a Gmail account, but that's only because it synchronizes better with my phone than GMX. I forward GMX to my Gmail and that goes to my phone. Sounds weirder than it actually is.

Hotmail: I used to have a Hotmail account because it came part and parcel with a MSN addy. Now, I use a different address for MSN. Same goes with Yahoo. If I use Yahoo anymore, its for stupid chain letters I usually delete.

GMX is my main email, and I recommend it to anyone.

Hotmail - use it for all the subscriptions I have and MSN.

Yahoo! - comes with Rogers and use it for Yahoo! Fantasy

Gmail - used for general correspondance

Outlook - work

All come into my mailbox on my Blackberry.
