Circle Square Christian TV on Global

memoryYouTube user Retrontario frequently uploads fantastic retro-Toronto-centric gems. These clips never fail to bring back a ton of memories for me, so I feature them from time to time.

Circle Square was a Canadian children's television series that ran from 1974 to 1986. The series was produced by Crossroads Christian Communications in cooperation with the Circle Square network of summer camps for children of Christian parents.

I don't know how I completely missed this show. 1974 through 1986 covers the first 12 years of my life. This show must have aired at some ungodly hour because I didn't stumble upon it even once.

Judging from this creepy clip, it looks like I missed a beaut.

Circle Square camps still exist across Ontario to rent out for retreats, events, etc.

They're still great properties.

But how is it I never saw this show growing up? Lord knows I saw Hercules on Global just about every day... when did Circle Square air?

Was usually on early Sunday. They would have bought the time (per the creepy disclaimer at the outset of the clip).

I used to watch Circle Square. I don't remember much about it
But I remember sending away for
the song book. I can still sing
the song that gave the address..

Retrontario is freaking awesome!! They actually have the Ontario Health board commercial about the drunk dad trying to fix his son's General Lee car.

I was more a Davey and Goliath kid but I do remember this mix of puppets, pulpits and preachers.

Davey and Goliath aired during The Commander Tom Show. LDS put out some fine blasphemous shite.

Oh my, I used to watch this show all the time and I am sure it was on really, really early! There used to be a show called Treehouse Club too I remember! I had certifcates (or maybe they were song books) sent to me! I had no idea how much religious propagnada I was exposed too through TV! Commander Tom must have come on after as I remember Davy & Goliath and that damn Birthday Clown! Too funny! My friend actually sent her 3 kids to Circle Square Camp in Brantford and says it wasn't too over the top with the religous aspect but the kids had a blast!

Those kids were beyond repulsive. I knew Martin was gay before I even knew what gay was! And Aron?? He looks like a guy who never wiped his bottom in his whole life.
