Brian Burke's Destiny

Published November 12, 2008 @ 17:40 in Toronto Maple Leafs

leafsBrian Burke is out as GM of the Anaheim Ducks, paving the way for Burke to be hired as president and GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It never did seem right that the Leafs' GM could be running another hockey team.

The only question is when? Will Burke be announced as our new GM in the coming days, weeks or will they drag this out a few months?

Nice post.
I think Brian Burke is a good GM, but is he as great as everyone sought him out to be? I really don't think so. No matter what, the Leafs are rebuilding and a team at the bottom can only go up. Don't really need to hire him... Fletcher is doing a great job already.
My two cents... http://jib-sports-culture.blogspot.com/2008/11/brian-burke-out-of-anaheim.html

Burke has a Stanley Cup, true, but have you checked out his draft history with the Canucks? After the Sedin twins, who haven't exactly been all they should have been in the NHL, there's R. J. Umberger, Ryan Kesler, and a whole lot of career minor leaguers from 98-04. Does Burke really have the credentials to build a team from within?

Burke would be best serve the leafs by signing a contract elsewhere. Kitchener Mike, thanks for saving me the typing :)

Brian Burke, will be a plus, to come to Toronto. look at John Ferguson jr, what did he do in Toronto, nothing. Burke will get the ball going. Cliff Fletcher, is too old, he doesnt want the job, he wants to retire, spend time with family, so people, get off Burkes back,
