Las Vegas 51's Our AAA Farm Team

JaysVegas Geoff actually wrote me last night all exited that our AAA farm team would be playing in his backyard. I was surprised we couldn't find an affiliate closer to Toronto than the Las Vegas 51's.

Forever, Syracuse has been home to our AAA team, but the Syracuse Chiefs ended out 31-year relationship in favour of one with the Washington Nationals. Buffalo, which would have been a perfect fit, has signed with the New York Mets. It doesn't sound like we hada much choice but to sign a two-year agreement with a team in Vegas.

Our hockey team can call up a recruit and have him at the home arena in 15 minutes. The Jays will need a little more time.

Doesn't Ottawa have a vacant AAA stadium?

If J.P. Has his way, it will only last two years. He said today "In two years, other options will open up."

I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Not to mention in order for them to play, youd have to call them up two days ahead of time because when they get here they'll be jet lagged and its going to cost the organization more to have a player go down and back. Youd almost be better off keeping some players in New Hamshire or Duniden just so they are closer.

If the Blue Jays come to Buffalo, VegasGeoff can stay at my house... I am only 10 mins from downtown :)

As a Braves fan, not so excited about the Mets here...

I've always been very disappointed that the Jays have not used a Canadian city as their AAA home. The VCR Canadians used to draw well when we had a AAA team (and Nat Bailly is a great place to watch a game). I believe the Calgary Cannons and the Edmonton Trappers also draw good numbers.
I was a huge Jays fan from opening day until I moved out here in 86. As time goes by I have become more and more removed from the Jays - a Western AAA affiliate is the way they should have gone to keep Canada interested in Canada's team!
