Paul Maurice Fired

Published May 7, 2008 @ 11:42 in Toronto Maple Leafs

leafsWe interrupt our regularly scheduled blogging with some big news from our beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs have fired head coach Paul Maurice.

Maurice spent two seasons behind the bench of the Maple Leafs, posting a record of 76-66-22. The Leafs missed the playoffs both seasons.

The overhaul is underway. Who's next?

What took them so long? If they did that last year, they might have made the play-offs this year....just pulling your leg....maybe next year.....pulling your leg, again........lol.

Awesome! Bring back Dougie and Wendel.

And what is your namesake, The Cat, up to these days?

I'm not sure what Felix has going these days, but I'm sure he could be a better backup to your pal Tosky than Raycroft was this year.

And since we're bringing back everybody else, can we bring Paul Morris back too?

We never should have let Paul Morris go. The only move that puzzles me more is the firing of Murry Eldon.

Gilmour can't be the new head coach, he's the GM after the next GM.

Most GM's start as head coaches though. Doug G head coach Wendel Assistant and in 5 years Doug G goes to GM and Wendel takes over as Head Coach.

I think Gord Stellick deserves another kick at the can. I'm hearing rumours of a Feaster/Tortorella combo deal possibly leaving Tampa for the Big Smoke.

Back to the subject of the entry though, I'm somewhat sad to see Maurice go. He certainly handled the media part of the job with aplomb. And I think he's a decent coach, but you can't fire all the players, so good night, and good luck, Paul Maurice.

Can we get Scotty Bowman?

I really hope Burke doesn’t come here. He almost ran Vancouver into the ground. Anaheim was built up for him when he got there and was very lucky to sign Pronger.

Neil Smith is the right man for the job. Smart, has a cup and is good with the media. Only problem he’s not part of that powerful lodge.
