I Hate Myself For Watching American Idol

idolI wish a didn't watch American Idol. I've managed to completly avoid such craptacular game shows as Dancing With the Stars, Don't Forget the Lyrics and America's Next Top Model, but I've always been strangely drawn to American Idol. It would be easy to say I just watch it with the wife and kids, but I'd watch without them.

I've actually followed every season of this show. I know, I know... I want to be the guy who walks away from it all, the guy who tires of holding his nose. I hate myself for watching American Idol.

The finale starts in 34 minutes and you know I'll be watching. I've picked David Cook to win pretty much from the start. If he's beat by that Archuleta kid, I'm through... until season 8, at least.

How silly is that! You work hard and are a busy man. Everyone has a vice or two. It is what makes us human. What could be a more harmless vice than AI? It is something your kids will remember sharing with you as I did the Ed Sullivan show with my parents. So enjoy every minute of it. It won't kill you!!!!

God Mike, I thought you had more respect for music than to be a fan of such junk. Just tell me you haven't bought Clay Aiken's or Kelly Clarkson's albums.

It's okay, Mike. I'll stand with you on the line of ridicule. I just got sucked into the show recently, but I got your back man. I've got a sinking feeling the "Oh my gosh" kid from Utah might actually win this thing. It is a popularity contest, after all.

That "Oh my gosh" kid slays me, and you're damn right he's gonna win. That's just a reminder that this stupid contest has nothing to do with music.

Buffalo Boy, give me some credit. I would never buy Clay Aiken! Now Kelly Clarkson, on the other hand...

I think he's secretly watching. After his precious declaration on Derringer's show that it was one of his favourite shows, he had to quickly restore his street cred.
