Dude you're right... I typically bum these "rest in peace" entries from the first paragraph of the AP obit. This one is just silly.

Is the author politely saying that Roy "milked" the role?
If he wrote the same thing about Roy's role as Joe Gideon it would mean something much different; wouldn't it?

They meant utter one of the most famous lines in "Jaws".
