Maple Leafs 4, Canadiens 2

LeafsHave you noticed the Leafs are now just winning the games we really, really want to win. We're beating the Sens and Habs while rolling over and playing dead for teams like the Panthers. That's perfect.

If you watched, you'd have to admit this was a fun game. Guys we haven't seen in ages, guys like Kyle Wellwood and Darcy Tucker, chipped in with goals while Toskala shut the door.

The next game that really matters is February 25 in Ottawa, although I wouldn't mind beating the Sabres on Wednesday night.

I still myself watching and cheering for the Leafs. I know the best thing is to hope they lose every game and get the one of the top 3 picks in the draft but my first instinct to cheer for the buds. I can’t help myself.

When Tucker scored in the empty net, I stood and cheered in my family room. I was thinking “take that, Habs fan”.

Argie, we disagree about Dubya, but we agree about the Leafs.

I too cheered out loud when Tucker scored into the empty net. It's in our blood to root for the blue and white, even when the playoffs are a near impossibility.

My wife recently asked me “why do you still cheer for the Leafs?”
I answered “Why do I like women? I don’t why, I just do.”

Haha. My ex-wife once told me that I loved the Leafs more than I loved her... she was probably right.

Go Leafs Go!

It took years for my wife to realize that I'd always have a date on Saturday nights during the hockey season.

One Saturday night she made me go to her company Christmas party and, while sitting at a table with her boss, I snuck a bud into my ear to listen to the game. The Leafs scored and I yelped - I still hear about that one. Apparently, this isn't appropriate behaviour in social situations of that nature. What choice did I have?

I've bailed on trips to the in-laws during playoffs - that's a whole different kettle of fish. I'd miss the birth of my child for a playoff game.
