Scott Rolen for Troy Glaus

bluejaysConsidering how injury-plagued both Troy Glaus and Scott Rolen are, I waited until they had passed their physicals before wading in on the Glaus for Rolen deal between the Jays and Cardinals. Assuming Rolen's shoulder holds up, and that's a big assumption, this is a great deal for our team.

Rolen is better defensively, carries a decent bat, and I never liked Troy Glaus as a Blue Jay. We gave up Orlando Hudson to bring Glaus to town, and O-Dog was the best 2nd baseman to play in this city since Roberto Alomar. I really miss O-Dog, and although he's not coming back, Glaus is leaving town.

This is an upgrade. Now they just have to make it official.

I like Scott Rolen as a leader in the clubhouse something Glaus never was. Glaus was a good bat, he could hit with the best of them but Rolen will provide the intangibles and hit and play good defense and let his teammates know when they are slacking, hes a winner something Glaus didnt display much of.
