Maple Leafs 4, Lightning 3

LeafsYou almost feel bad for Andrew Raycroft. He played the bulk of games last year before losing his starting job to Vesa Toskala this year and even with Toskala injured he finds himself playing backup. Raycroft had his shot and blew it, but you've still gotta feel for the dude. Scott Clemmensen led us to our first shootout win this season and should start in Pittsburgh tomorrow.

Jason Blake played well. I wonder if the healthy scratch of Kyle Wellwood woke him up a little. The next healthy scratch very well could have been Blake.

I'll close this recap with your useless fact of the day. Toronto is 16-4-2 when playing a home game on New Year's Day.

Last night’s game just proved that the Leafs are better off with a minor league goalie than they are with Raycrap. They need to send that stiff down to the Marlies.

Only play Clemensen until Vessa is ready.

What's happening with Rayzor reminds me a little of the egg that Tellqvist laid in Montreal when the Leafs gave him the reins to drag the bandwagon to the promised land. Let's hope he doesn't end up in Beaupre territory. :/
