It's strange but my favourite songs at this time of year are melancholy Christmas songs. It's a happy time, but I just prefer melancholy songs in general, and Christmas songs are no exception. For my money, nothing says Christmas like Chrissie Hynde tailing off with "I can hear people singing, it must be Christmastime..."
