A PSA You Won't Ever Forget

Published November 28, 2007 @ 19:34 in Television

tvThe other day I caught a public service announcement on television for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. If you've seen this spot, you haven't forgotten. It's the most disturbing ad I've ever seen.

As freaked out as it made me, I can vouch for its effectiveness. I'm now scared to boil eggs for fear I could slip into the boiling water. I won't even consider making tea.

Warning, this isn't for the squeamish.

A few days ago, this PSA caused a long discussion in our lunchroom. Everyone agreed that even though it was gross it got the message across.

Advertisers are always looking for that edge to stand out. I'd say this commercial did it. Reminds me a bit of the MADD PSA where the cop gets hit. This one is about 5 times more shocking though. I guess the bar keeps on getting raised.

I saw that on tv a couple of weeks ago and it did the same to me. What a message!

A few years back, Humble and Fred were doing a thing at Sick Kids. There was a girl who was there and in the burn unit because a pot of spaghetti fell on her. From that day forward I have been scared to death moving anything hot from the stove for fear of one of the children or the dogs being right behind me.

I hope the PSA's work. They do for me.
