A New TTC.ca?

Published by Toronto Mike on January 3, 2007 @ 16:55 in TTC ~ Toronto Transit Commission, Toronto News ~ Toronto Focus

TTCLast spring I wrote a little love letter to the TTC. Although I was gushing at the time, I gave the TTC some much deserved lumps with regards to their website.

Finally, if you want to see how out of touch TTC marketing is in this new age of viral communique, one needs to look no further than their official web site. It's one of the worst commercial sites I've ever come across and a complete embarrassment. If you're interested in a challenge, try and learn from ttc.ca what a single adult fare would cost you today. Good luck! The official TTC site looks especially horrible when compared to Transit Toronto, a fan site that's vastly superior to the TTC sanctioned site.

TTC.ca is unusable. It was horrible then and it's horrible now. Both Torontoist and BlogTO have entries this afternoon about how Adam Giambrone is interested in hearing how local bloggers would improve the TTC's site. As the new Commissioner of the Toronto Transit Commission, he might just be able to give us TTC riders what we deserve... a new TTC.ca that works.

This makes so much sense I can't believe it's actually happening.

It is a horrible site. An embarassment really. GO transit's site is no better. Both companys have lost their ability to be financially and competatively viable, thanks to the power of unions. We pay one of the highest public tranist fares in the world, and still our system is overtaxed, decrepit and leaking money from every seam. There is nothing they can do about it either as long as the union has them over a barrell.

You're certainly right, that website is terrible. I agree fully with AI's comment above. We need to make the system more cash efficient, for example with automated trains.

I both agree with AI's and A.R.'s comments with TTC website as it's a horrible and horrendous site to be in. TTC now increasing their fare to meet the services as they do not even provide a good Buses service and makes all the working people standing during the rush hours for their buses to come so that they can ride home. They do not even care what the Customer Services is
all about???

Toronto is a largest cities and do not have more than 3 lines of Subways wherelse in Europe and New York, they have at least 10 Subway Lines that goes in different directions. You won't get stranded in one locations but can move around faster.
