The Hockey Hall of Fame

Perhaps the reason the Leafs haven't won the Stanley Cup in almost forty years has something to do with the fact the Cup lives in Toronto.  There's no incentive to win it for your fans when anyone can see it at the Hockey Hall of Fame.  This afternoon, James and I made our way to the Hockey Hall of Fame to see Lord Stanley's mug and a jolly fat guy in a red suit.

The first thing I noticed is that the Gretzky wing is gone.  Last time I visited the Hockey Hall of Fame, which was about three years ago, I was blown away by this massive display devoted to #99.  It's gone and has been replaced by the NHL Zone which includes a very cool new exhibit called Stanley Cup Dynasties.  The Leafs are represented twice there, once for their 1947-1951 run and again for their 1961-1967 dominance.  It was a little easier when there was only six teams.

Highlights for James was meeting Santa and the TSN booth where we recorded calls of major goals by Paul Hendeson, Bobby Orr, Jacques Lemaire, Lanny McDonald and Bobby Baun.  They're right now sitting in my inbox.  If they're half decent, I'll share them later.

Here's a photoset from our day at the Hockey Hall of Fame.
