Maple Leafs 1, Penguins 4

LeafsI've written a recap for every Leafs game since game one of the 2003/2004 season. That first game was a 4-0 loss to Montreal. When we lost a season to the lock out, I switched my focus to the St. John's Maple Leafs. I monitor my team's progress this closely because they're my team and I love it, but it's not always fun.

This years Leafs team is mediocre. There is little hope. We're alone in last place in our little division right now and the only good news there is there's nowhere further to fall. We're 11th in the conference, but when you factor in the games in hand Pittsburgh has, we're really 12th. That's 12 out of 15 and Philadelphia is having the season from hell.

I watched last night's game and I saw a young Penguins team led by Sidney Crosby's three points, Evgeni Malkin's two points and great play from a young goalie and another stellar Staal. I'm jealous. Even though they might not stay in Pittsburgh, fans of that franchise have hope. In Leafs Nation, we're hopeless.
