I voiced my concern then in the comments about how these are hardcore criminals and need to be treated as such. Laws need to be passed that force judges to automatically deny bail to offenders charged with gun or gang-related crimes these. Hopefully your readers will find this link reinforces my point.Jill
It's a compelling argument, but in the article Craig Penney makes a statement that's difficult to argue with. He says, "I think nobody would disagree in principle with the general proposition that you shouldn’t be punished for a crime you didn’t commit. Essentially, when you have no bail, that’s what happens.”
If you are found to have a non registered gun in your posession I think you must be guilty of something....therefore bail should be denied. There is no reason for people to bear non registered firearms in this country unless they are involved in illegal activity. Also, bail for first time offenders I can see but I am referring to repeat offenders that has shown lack of respect for court orders.
