The Beach vs. The Beaches

After weeks of voting, 2,200 residents have chosen to adopt the name The Beach over The Beaches. The final score was 58% to 42% in favour of the singular title.

Personally, I don't have a preference. I've always known it as The Beaches but I can easily adapt. Even Old New York was once New Amsterdam. Why they changed it I can't say. People just liked it better that way.

Truth be known, I rarely visit the east-end lakeshore neighbourhood. I've written about my west Toronto bias before. If I can do it west of Yonge, I won't do it east of Yonge.
