Rest in Peace

In Memorium

Kirby Puckett was 45.  He carried the Minnesota Twins to World Series titles in 1987 and 1991 and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.  He broke into the majors in 1984, had a career batting average of .318, won six Gold Gloves and was named an All-Star ten times.

I enjoyed his entire career, always rooting for the little giant who carried a very big stick.  In response to yesterday's Guest Blog about his stroke I shared my favourite Kirby quote from when he retired in 1996. "I was told I would never make it because I'm too short. Well, I'm still too short, but I've got 10 All-Star games, two World Series championships, and I'm a very happy and contented guy. It doesn't matter what your height is, it's what's in your heart."
