Things were different four years ago. Only a couple of days after our men's hockey team won the gold medal in Salt Lake City, I hooked up with Tie Domi.
I asked him about Pat Quinn's mood and if they had practiced since his return from Utah. Quinn had returned to a heroes welcome and everything was upbeat. Tie was quiet but accomodating, entertaining my rambles with shy-like, humble replies. I was surprised by how unlike his on ice persona he seemed. Four years later it's our captain returning with the gold medal and nothing seems upbeat. We're in ninth place with only 25 games left to qualify for the playoffs. It's show time or tee time.
