Kyle Wellwood set a new franchise record by scoring five goals in leading the Maple leafs to an 8-3 win over the Cleveland Barons. Wellwood broke a mark previously set by three other Maple Leafs: Yanic Perreault, Todd Gillingham and Kelly Fairchild.
It was quite the performance and it blasted Wellwood into the St. John's points lead. It was the first five-goal game in the American Hockey League in nearly six years. Carlo Colaiacovo also had a good offensive night adding a goal and two assists.
